ParticipantThank you anyway!
Much to my surprise/delight/horror, I put up 25 tickets, and all are claimed! Someone put themselves down for 10…

ParticipantAs of last night, I had 14 attendees. Delight! Horror! If any of the experienced hands here want to ride with us, I will gleefully accept any & all marshaling help, especially if I have children on the ride.
Merci!

ParticipantNormally I would be running my own shop ride from Papillon Cycles on Saturday morning. But this is special enough that I don’t want to step on it. We can give you extra publicity on our social media pages.

ParticipantHave dynohub, will travel. My last remaining excuse not to do this is gone. (More properly, it now resides on the the recently rescued Das Kettler). Color me interested…

I dunno. Needs a seat with more back support and longer handle bars, I think.
That’s too cool a bike to be abandoned!

I’m curious what the process is for claiming abandoned property in Arlington.
Judd, file a found property report with Arlington County Police. You most likely will work with Lt. Heather Hurlock. (Hat tip to Erin Potter of BikeArlington).

Participantdrevil: Lighting upgrade already done. The rear had been a B+M incandescent Toplight, long ago smashed. That is an AXA Riff found in the reflector bin at the shop. The OE Basta halogen was just inadequate in output and beam, even by yesterday’s standards. The front light is now a B+M Eyc Plus, minus the switch & tail light wiring needed for a dynohub. The bike’s wiring to a rear sidepull generator was too nicely integrated to mess with. Though the OE generator wouldn’t power the LED front beyond a flicker. Bearings felt funny, so… a B+M sidepull dyno last used for my Trek was put into service. Mission accomplished.
The mystery cylinder’s a little small for a hamster, though…

Today was the first day I’ve felt good enough to get back on the bike. Went back to the scene of the crime of almost exactly one week ago. I’m still pretty black and blue but I can actually ride better than I can walk, which made me happy.
I saw these rocks when I wiped out and thought I was well to the left? The only logical explanation I can come up with is that there was a troll hiding there that threw one of them into my front wheel. This time I built an elaborate teak spirit house at the entrance and put bowls of rice and incense in it. Rode through both ways no problem.
You rode this? Looking at that broken up concrete… You’re a braver man than I am, Gunga Din.

Participantwheels&wings, I’m sorry this happened to you. And good on *everyone* for helping her.
Here’s a flip side I observed last month. On my way back from a Dr’s appointment in the Virginia Square neighborhood, I saw this sad moment (no, not my bike, but still…)
