Alas, though I live in the wildes of Mary Land, I have no idea where that corkscrew is to be found.
I just hid the Friendship CB near you, I think, so maybe you can retrieve it tonight.

In Four Mile Run Park (between Commonwealth and Mt Vernon Ave on the opposite side of the river as the trail), near what Google is calling Frank Mann Field… Which is really just a giant gravel lot and ugly building that are SURROUNDED by giant steaming mulch piles, some about 1 story high…

It’s the park where the trail detour was for about a year.

Friendship Calvinball obtained. Do you know how many piles of stuff in 4 mile run park look like mulch in the snow?!?!
Many thanks to Alexandria for the great job clearing the trail through the park. Now if only they would do the same for their roads and sidewalks…

3.5 piles? Are there any Calvin Balls our there now? I can’t keep track. Not that I’m necessarily leaving DC in this icy mess. You are brave!

ParticipantHi Shira and everybody! I’m in Shaw and also like to do the ATT a lot and recently the Arlington loop because that’s where Calvin and Hobbes hang out for Calvin Ball. It’s on the thread somewhere, but I always have a hard time finding it so I end up doing an internet search. I do a lot of riding at night and early evening.
I’m open to trying to get better at the forum, but sometimes Strava is just easier. I wish searches for threads on the forum were easier. It’s also hard on a phone ‘cause it’s tiny. But I’ve been having fun with Calvin Ball!

Hobbes appears to still be out there… Poor little dude is probably lonely and freezing under the rock [emoji22]

How did you get the tear emoji to work, emm. I don’t see it on the forum and when I put it in from my iPhone, I just get ??
Some how I thought it was by a log. I didn’t look under any rocks, just next to them.
OH, is he under leaves?? Poor Hobbes.

So did you find the one on Four Mile Run?
No one else has claimed it, so it may still be there.Sent from my 5049Z using Tapatalk
I guess not! I really tried, but was either not in the right place or didn’t search long enough. Didn’t see any brown paper bags by logs up and down both sides of those black and white signs. But it was dark . . .

And I get frost bite crawling around on my hands and knees in the bitter cold last night looking for the Calvin Ball under that piano-looking thingy that’s part of The Ripple by the “water” treatment plant.
Note to self: Got to move quicker on these.
Gersh dern it! Again, I meant to only like Henry’s post, although I don’t like frostbite!

Shreve intersection is right before the big hill where you jog up to Virginia Lane on the WOD. Sounds like you were looking under a lot of poles. Not to worry, not only was the spot less than a mile from my house, but now I have the pleasure of making 3 more? 4 more? Rumor is that a few of them may cross state borders…
That’s why I intended to just slack and find it, further complicating the maths! It was a real quandary to not just enjoy the tailwind, but I enjoy the hunt. Miss Geocashing since it got weird.
Yes, that hill occurred to me at some point, after or before the ride, so I just didn’t go far enough. Duh, the cold addled my brain.
Not sure if I’ll fight this headwind tonight since it seems uncertain if any CB’s or Hobbes are currently in play.

Second Calvinball acquired- hip hip hooray!!!!
Gosh, I must have passed you. I think I looked under most of the power poles before 29 and slowed down for a lot along 4 mile run south of Columbia Pike (By then I was probably getting hypothermia because Shreve isn’t even that far south, right?). It was just too cold for me! Surprised at all the cyclists out tonight.
Don’t you have to make a bunch of them now?!

I was going to leave hot chocolate in mine, but decided if it took awhile our tiny neighborhood residents might find it first. Congrats! It’s all in the timing!
