ParticipantDang, forgot to upload this until now.
It’s a lot harder to find churches with steeples than I expected! Not too far from the north end of Beach Drive. Ken-Gar.

Also I found this great gazebo, nicer than the one I found on gazebo day
If you ever see me disliking a post it’s probably just a matter of my thumb being too big or the forum being too, too tiny.

ParticipantI was going to use my own carriage house, built around the turn of the 20th century, but this one looked more “official”. It’s a recently restored carriage house behind 1922 Third St. NW, that’s part of a couple of homes at number 4 on the Ledroit Park/Bloomingdale Heritage Trail. Really attractive. I wonder if anyone lives there. Jesse Jackson’s former home is nearby too.

This find in the conifer collection at the National Arboretum was an adventure, but perhaps not worth so much of a Fire Swamp level without the Princess deal. As I was climbing over a fence, rather than under one, the popo drove by about 10’ away and amazingly didn’t notice me or didn’t care.
I actually think this would be a cool collection to visit during the day.

ParticipantDoes Dark Sky look at the whole ride for freeze points, or like Klimat, just looks at the beginning temps and you get that temp for all your miles?

Participant2/13/2022 Hill Fort
Fort Ward. This was most definitely up a hill. I think it was a medical facility for one thing.
Fort Ward never saw any combat and was used mostly as a garrison and staging area for Federal troops. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/fort-ward-park

Somebody had to go there with the comments about Madonna going around. I picked an article that was a little nicer to her on the subject, but, well, read it yourself if you have no idea what I’m talking about.

Air and Space museum. I’m thinking this is a telescope, but anything in orbit probably owes something to Mr. Galilei.

Down near Ft. Washington. Cold down there. More traffic than you’d think for late at night.

This is what happens when a planet in our solar system is decimated. Planet Smoothie. And we believe that did happen A Long, Long, Time Ago.
