ParticipantI’m interested if the hubs are 11s cassette compatible.

You should do it. There will be a large DC crowd there and some quality hanging out before and after the race.
The course itself is flat and mostly gravel. Savage Road was fun in a riding a bike through a Post World War I battlefield type of way. There was one section that turned into a 40 yard mud pit by the second lap.

I’m planning on building up an allroad/road+ bike over the winter so that should be a little more appropriate than my Jamis with 32c max tires. Still gotta figure out if I want to go 650b or 700c.

If you are interested in racing, better sign up now. 16 slots left.
Also, I may have an entry to sell, but I will not know for sure until November/December.
I assume when you said “interested in racing” you really mean “interested in trailing the pack by like 2 hours” and that the 16 open slots still pertains to that classification of rider?

ParticipantWell I did my first ever metric century Friday, and my in-laws live just on the north side of the Croatan NF so if this isn’t motivation to do a full century I don’t know what is.

You might ask David Confer of Fathom Bicycles on the Hill. I think he builds steel bikes.
I keep seeing this guy’s name thrown around but googling hasn’t gotten me very far. As someone who lives on the Hill I’m very intrigued. Do you have a website or contact?

I was riding about yesterday and made a great discovery that may be of use to the coffee clubbers….the new Whole Foods by Garfield Park between capitol hill and navy yard has self-serve taps for a few varieties of nitro cold brew coffee and teas. Plus there is a Slipstream coffee/wine cafe on the adjacent block with likewise inexpensive prices coffee/treats.
While I have your attention I have one more hidden gem…. the Pavilion cafe in the art park next to the Natural History Museum. The catch? You must walk your bike while within the art park, no biggie.
I’m always up for activities in the CapHill/Navy Yard area, but I would not call anything that comes from Slipstream “inexpensive”

ParticipantI think yesterday was BicycleSPACE’s final day. I have a friend who works in sales there and it sounds like the staff didn’t really get a heads up on the store closing and there is a very uncertain future.

ParticipantI plan on signing up at some point. Looks like a lot of fun!

ParticipantI rode one a few weeks back. Was surprised I couldn’t find any mention on CaBi’s website about the new bikes, usually they promote those kinda things. Really enjoy the basket form factor on the new ones.
Any news on if/when the e-bikes are coming back? I was in NYC last weekend and noticed they don’t have their Citi e-bikes back in service yet either so it must have been a real issue.

ParticipantI’ll be out of town for this one, but I will be at Island Time tonight. Never been before, seems like my kinda jam.

ParticipantHey Steve, thanks for organizing (and keeping us organized!) my friends and I had a lot of fun. See you all on the next one!

ParticipantStill planning on being there tonight with a +1.
I assume this is a fairly casual paced ride since it’s in the city and all?

ParticipantAfter ghosting on the Lotus ride maybe I can make this

ParticipantHey right in my hood! I’ll probably drop in for this even if I’m already going to the Gardens on Wednesday to check the flowers out and I’ve (unfortunately) been to Daily Rider too many times in the past few weeks with bike issues.
