ParticipantWell – not much has progressed since my inital post. I was planning on making this change to a touring bike I have for a tour I had planned for late August. Well, the tour was cancelled so I put off this change for now. But I still plan on taking on the upgrade… at some point in the future.
If you find a good solution that worked for you – please update us!! Good luck!

It has nothing to do with the intersection being “dangerous.”
You’re right – any intersection around here has a STOP sign for the MUP. However, what makes this one more dangerous is that you’re going downhill (eastbound) with almost no line of site into the parking lot and it isn’t a street crossing.

ParticipantDoubt it – but may be worth checking with Arlington County Police.
Also – I do realize you were injured in the process – I’m sorry about that. I do hope you’re feeling better and it wasn’t too serious.
Hope you’re back on the bike soon and happy cycling!!

ParticipantI blew a stop sign in Old Town a couple of years ago. It was at 7am on Saturday and NOBODY was around except a cop apparently. Anyhow, he pulled me over and gave me a very harsh reprimand and was about to give me a ticket but decided against it, probably b/c I agreed with him and didn’t argue the point. Was I in the wrong, definitely. If I had hit someone it would have been my fault. I struggle to understand how my “guiltiness” could have been questioned considering I blew the Stop sign.
You’re right – that is a dangerous intersection which is why they have a Stop sign.

ParticipantSo, looks like they’re at it again. There are tons of notes left on the trail under small rocks. After passing what was probably my 10th one I decided to pull over and read it. Hmmmm…… and I can’t read it. Wish I had brought my camera.

ParticipantGreat sign! I’m sure you do get plenty of honks from it!
Sorry to hear you hit the deck. Was this yesterday?
Is that a Cross Check? I trade off between a Bianchi San Jose and a grey CC with a red King headset for commuting. So my bike looks pretty darn similar, except mine is probably several sizes smaller ; )
I should post pics…

Honestly, since I put the sign on the back of my bucket pannier, I’ve had very, very few people get aggressive with me.
Take it easy. Enjoy the rain, if we get any.
What sign is that? The one time I saw you I was going East while you were going West so I didn’t see a sign.
Speaking of rain – I happened to time it so the 28 minutes of downpour we got yesterday, I made sure I was commuting home and fixing a flat on Fairfax Drive in between. So as soon as I got in my front door the sun came back out. I Metro’d it today as my riding gear is completely drenched due to me being completely illprepared for the rain yesterday.

ParticipantDirt – if only you could be a driver – I’d feel much safer on the roads ; )

ParticipantI generally leave my house at 6:30am and the traffic is pretty busy by then. A couple of weeks ago I left a few minutes before 6am – wow what a difference that made! The traffic on the W&OD was down about 75%, I saw a TON of rabbits, and the street traffic was also way down. If I could just somehow do that every day, but then reality sets in… in the form of a snooze button.

ParticipantThis is hilarious! I don’t want to be “hit” with a math equation on my way home. With all this heat making me delirious, there’s no way I could solve it!! Yes, I’m blaming it on the heat!

You’ve got a 3 week training opportunity starting Saturday morning. You thought Cav was tough… you ought to try some Phil Liggett Bingo.
I need to put together a training program, I seem to be losing “form” in this area the older I get ; )

Fun night. Great flick. Don’t miss it on the big screen. I’m still a bit hung over from way too much Cav drinking game though. Not good for a Friday morning.
[/IMG]Cav crushed me last night! Who’s idea was it for this game anyhow? I think DIRT owes me some extra strength tylenol ; )
I agree – great flick! I’m considering going again on the 27th of July.

ParticipantI’ve used a ViewPoint light I got from Performance years ago until midway through this past winter. It was okay but battery died pretty quickly and it wasn’t too bright. This past December I bought a Magicshine light. It’s one of the best $90 I’ve spent especially compared to many of the other lights I was lookign at. The light is super bright and holds a charge pretty well.
It’s not perfect though. It comes with a couple of bands to attach the light to your handlebar. I notice that the bands seem to have stretched a bit so I have to adjust a couple of times per ride, which isn’t a big deal to me.
Overall, I really like the light and would buy it again. Here’s the link…
