ParticipantI can’t believe I sat around in the house all day instead of taking a ride to Arlington to pick up a free patch kit.

ParticipantMy most bike friendly route home from DC has me going through Seven Corners – actually across the Wilson Blvd-Rt7-Sleepy Hollow interchange. Fun!

Hey ShawnoftheDread, I’ll bring those brake pads with me if you’re going to be there & want them still. In fact I stuck them in my bag tonight so if you see me before then I’ll have them. I won’t remember I have them, but I’ll have them.
You’re a peach — I forgot about those pads. I was looking at my brakes one day trying to figure out how to tell if they were too worn, when I realized they are so old that the wear-indicator lines are completely gone. But I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to the happy hour. Maybe I’ll stalk you on the MVT.

ParticipantI haven’t been as diligent as I was for our month, but I still have 10 rides or so logged.

Thanks. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found that shop. I

One would think they’d be able to find a South African revolutionary to serve as an icon rather than an Argentine.

ParticipantThings I learned this morning: my clip on rear fender does not keep the mud off my back, despite being aided by a rack and a bag. My clip on front fender sprays water nicely on to my shoes when pedaling through puddles. My civilian rain jacket is not water proof. My eyeglasses make crappy goggles. Pressing “start” in the Strava app on my phone doesn’t necessarily work if my fingers are wet (whaddaya mean I didn’t ride to work this morning?!). But, most of all, I like riding in the rain in the morning just as much as I like it in the afternoon.

He’s serving a judges order. Cannot operate a motor vehicle that requires a license. If his face was painted I’d call him Bozo.
If so, he’s in violation. It was about a 150 cc scooter. License required.
I almost yelled at him, but decided not to because of the ballsy-ness of it. And I was already angered-out by then (bad commute today).ShawnoftheDread

Man, the singles scene is getting tough in this town. Glad I’m married.
More seriously, I agree with Dismal Scientist.

As a general rule can we make it a forum foul to mention the word earbuds, helmet, scofflaw, or other such triggers of conversations that have been beat to death. It’ll be fun, like the on-line version of Taboo the board game. i.e.
you – “Blah, Blah, Blah, ya-da, yada, blah, earbud, blah. . .”
Me – “TABOO!”
you – “good form, 2 points”New forum readers come all the time, so a continuing dialogue is helpful. I wore earbuds my first two months of commuting (though not loudly), until being convinced through this forum that it wasn’t a good idea.

ParticipantI saw a young woman this morning riding her bike with those crazy froggy toe shoes. Not as bad as barefoot though. That guy’s asking for trouble.

ParticipantThis weekend I saw a vulture eating a fawn on the side of the road. Not quite the same impact as your sighting.
