That was fun. My stoker helped me get a couple strava achievements on two of the climbs.

Since we’re talking equivalencies, we should also examine price. $300 in 1992 is worth almost $500 today. So, can you get a better or worse bike today for the same price point?

Aw man! I have to miss the next 2 weeks too :( I need a coffee club friendlier jorb. :p

I need a coffee club friendlier daughter. She just won’t get out of bed in the morning. In related news, I got another gray hair this week.

    Details? Exact Location? Photos?

There are a couple of big holes in the concrete between Veitch and Oak, partially covered by a traffic cone in the middle of the path. The cone can only be passed on the curb side, though, because of the size of the path damage.

I took the long way to Old Town this afternoon and saw Bilsko heading the opposite way on the Custis.

    Those are not mutually exclusive.

Thanks. I think that’s too close for comfort to plan on riding one and marshalling the second. The kid will want her rest stops.

So sign up to marshall the family ride! I’m leading it, 8-months pregnant with a toddler, so it’ll be a gentle ride.

Because I don’t know what “later in the morning” means for the family ride start. After the main ride is over, or sometime earlier than that? We want to do the long ride.

So it turns out that the AFR is *well* on its way to blowing past last year’s #s, and so I’d like to err on the side of caution by recruiting a few more ride marshalls. Any takers? Ride marshalls are best thought of as shepherds – they just apply the occasional light touch in order to keep the herd moving safely, and if things go wrong, they know who to call (me). Interested?

(Everyone who has already signed up to volunteer will be hearing from me later today. Thanks!)

I would, but I’ll have a kid in tow for the ride.

November, after the DLS change. Stay tuned for details and call for volunteers…

Would it make sense to do it a little before the time change, or have you found that people are more likely to decline if it isn’t actually dark out at the time?

I think that’s written in Fed speak. I tried to decipher it, now I need a cocktail.

You spoke too soon, it’s like 80 and raining out. I almost biked in between rain gaps, but decided with my luck it would pour and it did pour. At the same time, the amount of time it took to take the bus made me think I would have preferred wet and on time to semi-wet and late.

I was almost successful in waiting for a gap, but I think I pedalled too fast and caught up with the rain. Oops. Legs and feet got soaked in DC, but that’s about it. It wasn’t that bad , especially considering how slowly the traffic was moving on the parkway.

Should we start a pool on how long it takes for something to be done with the property? I’m guessing 7-8 years.

Another interesting tidbit about the route area: construction STILL has not started on the planned Chambliss ST bridge, which was supposed to be done around now.

Good work. Yes, it’s not ideal, but at least it can be done.
