Hey Jim, not sure if you have had fenders for a while or not but it’s good to have 10mm or so between the tire and fender so a rock can slip thru. If not, your tire might jam. I’ve loved grinding with my fenders and racks…the extra weight might do you some good to keep your line a little easier but I could be totally wrong on that.

It might not have have made me faster, but it sure made me FEEL faster.

So you really are a cycling fool? ;)

Very nice commute but the dang 85% humidity level royally sucks. Was surprised to see so much thick ice out there in drainage ditches and a thin sheet on the bridges. Saw Dickie today so that was awesome.

Check out http://www.gagedesoto.com/collections/all for a number of books and magazines. They usually have good sales.

Just Ride by Grant Peterson is my fave.

I’ve used Stava enough to know that this is particularly dreadful news for the folks who DO use it each day. Like it’s been said, winter time is great for gaining more speed and safely at that.

Raymo, obviously you like to use this forum to express your opinions but this time you came to some opposition. I’d think about contacting Strava to correct this and reverse your decision. But…if you feel so strongly, alas.

I am astonished that Strava let’s just anyone flag segments. I’ve actually ran through this scenario in my head before and thought someone could do just this. Just a matter of time.

Anyone up for designing a new app?!

Good seeing Dismal this morning just as I had a “missed connection” of sorts. Dismal was rocking a new hybrid he got. Good seeing you sir. Haven’t seen Dickie but once in a couple of weeks, I’m starting to get a little misty eyed on the trail on the account of not seeing him.

I dislike this whole thread. Sad :( On another note, I do know where this guy lives, saw him exit his igloo a couple weeks ago.

Loving the “gravel grinding” I’m doing at Columbia Pike/WOD intersection these days. My 32’s are right at home.

I usually don’t write these posts but for some reason folks were a little angry that I passed them this morning. I passed a gentlemen on a 90’s green mountain bike as I was headed up Virginia Ln. hill in FC/Dunn Loring area going East. I said politely that I was passing and the gentlemen responded with some sort of out of breath “OK”. After passing him, I felt that he sped up to stay right behind me. Come to find out he was trying to play catch up for a while and caught up to me in the heart of FC. Once passing me, he taunted me by saying ” Whatsa matter? Slowing down huh?”. I responded with “umm no…just going my pace” and he was off and went through an intersection where I couldn’t see him any longer.

Another person I politely passed on down the trail – gentlemen riding a old ten speed. After passing him very comfortably he sped up and tagged onto my wheel for a little bit before stopping at Columbia Pike. He asked if my bike had “steel wheels” and “was my bike from European”? No. He then bolted ahead of me and sped off once Columbia Pike intersection was OK to cross.

Did I miss that I was in an actual race this morning? Because I wanted to know about this race. To the guy that was taunting me, I was just going my usual pace and didn’t variate. I hope I see you on the trail sometime soon so we can continue our conversation.

Ha! In reality I’m that slow guy with fenders.

Dude! My son is the same age and was going to let him play with this one soon. Can get this brand at classic toy shops. Hope this helps! BTW- I think these are ZIPP wheels he’s using. 3u5adu5e.jpg
