ParticipantSuper huge James Garner fan.
OK, no. When I went to make my first purchase on eBay many years ago, eBay rejected by then-screen name as being too close to my actual name. eBay suggested I take the name of a local park (Rockford Park in Wilmington, Delaware), a number and a color. I’ve been Rockford10Green ever since. It’s shortened here and on other web sites to Rockford10. I’m Rockford11 on Twitter only because I lost that password and it wouldn’t let me reset it. Dumb twitter.

ParticipantThis morning I realized I should keep my gloves in the warm house and not in the cold garage.
Other then that, it was a lovely morning. I saw some Bobs and said hello to the Bloodhound dog guy.

I will have to work the night of the happy hour, though it’s remotely possible I could arrive sometime after 7:30. I’m hoping Rockford10 will go and represent me (even if she’s not on my team, but on some sucky team).
Priorities!
I will go and represent for my own *fantastic* rainbows and unicorns team.

ParticipantGreat event yesterday – the weather couldn’t have been better! The boy ended up categorized as “going to eleven”, so he didn’t podium, but we all had a great time.

ParticipantWe will be there less DKel. The boy is racing in the 9-10 division, hoping for a new red cx bike.
Rockford10
ParticipantSo, this could fit a (relatively normal) 10 year old now and in two years another buyer would be relatively easy to find?
Someone had his eye on a small cx bike at Fresh Bikes and Bikenetic.

ParticipantThis is too far for a KMA ride, but I had an event last night at Meadowood Botanical Gardens in Vienna and got to see all their pretty lights. A Vienna loop off the W&OD using the new Meadowood connector might be a fun event for adults, bigger kids or a KM – western Fairfax!

ParticipantTree down in Vienna’s Wildwood Park (at least that’s what I think the little connecty park is called).

If DKel and Rockford can do it, why not anyone?
Ugh. This was a secret. I only registered so that I could report items in the Gallows bike lane and keep track of “someone’s fixed gear project.” I’m going to need to create a new secret identity now. “DKel’s Spouse”? “The Fixed Gear Will Probably Fit Me Better”? “BeerRde?” “Slckr” “AnotherKathy”?
In other news, should I be a Slacker or a Non-Slacker? I see the advantages of both. I don’t intend to ride a whole lot, but if there are a couple of people on my team that don’t show up, I won’t be on the bottom. I’ve never finished last and don’t intend to this time.

ParticipantHi! I work in Tysons and am a sometimes-commuter. Many buildings have a dry cleaner on-site or through the concierge. You might want to check with others in your office to see what they do. It’s not *really* any more expensive than the off-site places.
As for work storage, you may be more or less comfortable with this, but I keep a blazer and some shirts in the communal office closet. This summer it wasn’t ever a problem, but I can see it might be an issue during the winter with coats and things. I can easily carry my clothes in my backpack, but liked to have the blazer if I needed to look nice or extra shirts just in case.

ParticipantA member of my family wrote emails to several bike shops last night to see if they had a fixed gear bike in stock and if he could test ride it.
He’s got $20 in his pocket and is off school today. #tobe12again

ParticipantOur kids were baptized as babies and took communion at their baptism. Somehow one kid associated communion with coffee hour. He would go up and, when offered the cup, would refuse and say “no coffee.” Interestingly, the same kid would throw a temper tantrum at the communion rail when the (Missouri Synod) Lutherans refused to give him communion. He would literally lie on the floor and kick his legs and flail his arms. I’m sure this was just confirmation to the Lutherans that they made the right choice.

Yeah, but little loudoun has jack-in-the-box cops to randomly harass the cyclists on the W&OD.
We got a new police chief in 2013 and she’s taken measures to stop some of the ridiculous ticketing from the past (and specifically “ripped” up tickets issued during a snow emergency). I used to see a police car hide around Oak Street, I haven’t seen that for a while. I’d like to think the harassment has stopped.
