Yes, I see the ELITE cyclists and joggers are doing this everyday. The incoming cyclists have to tango to avoid them.

    Liz,

Congratulation! If you keep track all the expense and compare, it does save money.

My yearly car maintenance costs ($1200) are more than a bike. The insurance and taxes pay for accessories. The depreciation, gases, parking, and traffic tickets will cost more.

A DC camera red light ticket is $150, more than most jacket.

Or ride a bike. It’s more cost effective. I always feel sleepy when I drive more than 50 minutes, especially when it’s dark. I don’t have this sleepy issue when I commute on a bike.

I had the pleasure of RESTONTODC’s company both directions today! I also saw Tim Kelley going the opposite direction on the W&OD this evening.

I was a privilege riding with a new minted League Cycling Instructor today.

    Congratulations Liz.

I enjoyed this ride. It was well organized. The area drivers were great. They passed us slowly.

Thank you to the police officer with flashing light at Route 7 crossing. It helped to slow down cars so we can cross RT7 safely.

The only complaint is the long line for bathrooms in the High School to do my number 2 business. The bibs put additional delays on the bathroom usage time. I wish they install the Johnny potty additional to the school bathrooms.

I think these rumble strips is danger for new bike riders and children if they don’t have both hands on their handle bar.

They should install these rumble strips on the ROAD for cars instead of the trail.

Since the school started, I see many drivers speed up when they see me waiting at the Cedar lane stop sign instead of slowing down.

I passed eminva on her shinny White/Red Cannondale yesterday afternoon. The frame is very reflective.

I always to keep my bike clean but I can’t keep it up. Someday, I’m going pull in the Carwash on route 7 under WOD in Falls church and ask them to hand wash my bike.

Yes, I have the same problem on counting calories as well. Since I eat out more, I can’t count them and too lazy to track it.

I follow the Tim’s recommendation on earlier post about whole foods and more lean protein. I eat less now and not hungry as much as before. I still need to work on the fruits and vegetables. They don’t taste good and expensive.

Every single day I ride I witness numerous stupidities from all types of cyclists. Running red lights, weaving, wearing headphones, riding against traffic, no helmets, no shoes, talking on phones, passing without warnings, passing two abreast, passing on blind corners, riding between cars, traveling too fast on the trails…. The list goes on and on. I tried for years to “educate” the offenders, or lead by example but it doesn’t change. To quote Tears for Fears (sue me), “People are People”. The same folks that care only for themselves behind a wheel, or in line at the grocery store are the same folks riding bicycles, you can’t change a culture by simply teaching cycling etiquette, although I applaud the attempts.

I drove my car today and find out that percentile of stupid cyclist on trails is much less stupid drivers on the road. I would say 5% comparing to 40%. So, I refer riding my bike on trails. I love to hang out with smart people. :)

I was driving on center exit lane of Dulles Toll Road to 495 N, a car from left most lane heading to 66 cuts in my lane at 45 MPH without signal. Luckily, there is no car on the right lane. Otherwise, we would crash hard.

I was on River road, some cars were speeding and swirl from lanes to lanes. While other slow drivers were texting, reading newspapers, and putting up the makeup. I haven’t seen anyone puting makeup with riding bike on the trails.

I use my bell from far away and close up because there are many joggers and cyclists with headset unless I get a wave. Then I call out thank you when I pass.

KelOnWheels, it was good to see you. :) I’m wondering how it feels to mount a rocket on a bike.

Kathy, thank you for the happy hour. We’re not strangers on the trail anymore.

I was a victim of the broken glass on Wednesday afternoon. When I saw the broken glass on the narrow I-66 Roosevelt bridge, it was too late and couldn’t avoid. It cut the walls of my front tire wide open and unusable. I wish I have a spare tire.

One of cyclists was super nice, she went by me and turn around 15 minutes later to ask if I need help. I went back to clean up all glass before walking to Metro.

I’m wondering if the meter time expired, who would get the ticket? Unless someone is riding a bike with valid tag.
