1/10/21 – Nut

In my research, George Washington Carver may have been born on January 10 (or January 1), 1864, but other sources say he may have been sometime in June also. He’s probably most well known for his work with peanuts, but I thought it would be tough to find “peanut”, so I’m shortening it to “nut”. Happy Hunting!

Nice shop with nice people. Go buy something from them!

LOL! I stopped at a few stores and peered in the windows to see if I could find nuts on display, but nary a nut was found by that method.

I present to you the BEE fairweather wormhole, a cutthrough from one neighborhood to another in Falls Church …in an area constrained by the beltway and Rt 29. Both neighborhoods afford you routes to the North via Shreve or West. I’ve BEEn told that it gets very muddy after rain, so steer clear of this hyperlink to your Northern space travel destinations, lest you BEE bogged down in the BEE fairweather wormhold, never to escape.

I’ve always admired this sculpture which you can see off the Fairview Park loop in Falls Church. The light was just right this morning.

1/8/21 – Bell (but not on a bike) OR an Elvis

January 8 is Elvis Presley’s birthday. What were at the bottom of his jumpsuits? Bells! Post a pic of a bell that isn’t on a bike OR an Elvis you spot on your ride (just 1 pic please). Happy hunting!

Josh – the only acceptable answer from you (and only you) is the Liberty Bell since you left us to go to Philly ;)

Hey all, I’m Robyne. Enjoyed seeing and meeting most of you at the HH today. I’m especially looking forward to getting full strength back in my leg and climbing some gravel hills! And, I have a brand new mountain bike with just 20 miles on it before a driver decided to occupy the space I was in. I had no skillz before but am really anxious to get back at it soon.

    1/7/21 – Moon

On January 7, 1610, Galileo discovered 3 of the moons of Jupiter. Creative entries encouraged, but if your photo of your “moon” is not apparent, please explain. Happy hunting!

PS – no derrieres. This is a family friendly hunt! :D

I took a picture of a local restaurant named Harvest Moon this morning but held off posting because I wanted something else. After searching, I found them at the Westover Walgreens. I rode out quickly after work to get back in time for the BAFS HH to buy them. https://www.strava.com/activities/4584811670
I’m including a picture with the receipt as evidence I purchased them there!

1/6/21 – Small Business that features beans. Happy hunting!

Not only is it National Bean Day, it’s Rowan Atkinson’s (aka Mr Bean) birthday! Small business definitely means no Chipotle, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Baja Fresh. Again, it’d be cool if it’s a place you actually like – and if you’d want to – explain why.

Please remember in your posts to either reply/quote this or write the date and what the hunted object is :)

Rare Bird coffee roasters – i’m not a coffee drinker, but I have cycling friends that love this place.

I hope everyone else on bikes was safe today in DC.

Smart move and I’m glad you’re safe. And rule 4 of this game is Don’t ever ever ever ever do anything that can put you in danger or will result in hurting yourself

1/5/21 – on National Bird Day, take a pic of a bird. Let your imagination fly. Happy hunting!

I had a ton of fun with this one! I left my house with no real plan and found a bunch (flock?) of birds. Street signs with bird names, bird statues, signs with bird in it, lawn decorations, live ducks and more! But the coolest were the parrot and the toucan at the Parrot store which I stopped at before the sun rose and a little later when it was light out. The birds were pretty active the 2nd time and I spent a few minutes just “chatting” with them. Today’s entry is a pic of the toucan. All the birds can be found here: https://www.strava.com/activities/4570770392

1/4/21 – In honor of National Spaghetti Day, take a pic of an Italian restaurant, preferably one you like and/or serves spaghetti. Caveat is that it can’t have “zz” or “Garden” in the name or the sign. Happy hunting!

Also, starting on 1/4 going forward, I’m going to be a hardarse, so please read and follow the rules in the original post. Thanks again for playing :)

Anthony’s Restaurant has been a Falls Church establishment for almost 50 years and they serve just about everything. They have a wide selection of Italian entrees including many different spaghetti options, baked spaghetti plus lots of other pasta dishes. In addition to the Italian options, Anthony offers plenty of Greek and American options. It’s that casual restaurant to take a crowd because there will be something for everyone without breaking the bank!
