MMPC YEAH! I don’t know if storming a pancake place at 7am is a problem. But what do I know of the ways of daywalkers.

Update: I ate two donuts for dessert after dinner.

Also, I could go for Monday pancakes! I think my family would be mighty jealous though. Peet’s / Einstein Bros would be fine too. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day anyway, closely followed by lunch and dinner.

Don’t forget second breakfast and elevenses.

    When does this place open?

I think I’ve sorted out a route that minimizes the time on Idylwood.

    Um. You have that backwards.

“I get to skip” = “I oversleep and am still groggy so I can’t help it”

The error is an example of the groggy part.

Yes, there was lots of refreeze this morning on the WOD west of Citizens Bridge.

W&OD refreeze (but rideable with care – even by me!) just east of the tennis courts along Shreve and then a little worse between Great and Little Falls. But again, I rode it and I’m a chicken. The ice was thin enough that the texture of the blacktop wasn’t completely covered. Likely all gone by now.

All gone, as of 8.30ish. I hate this time switch, except when it means I get to skip refreeze zones.

The slushfest between Cedar and Gallows turned out to be my undoing with the skinny slicks. My bike took a knee to the pedal and a crotch to the top tube, but is otherwise fine.

americancyclo (I think) said Hi to me while I was coming off the Little Falls Ice Field of Certain Death, but I was very preoccupied with thoughts of “hey I did that on a fixed gear with slick tires and didn’t die”.

    Hi!

Rode the fixie without studs, finally. It was deathly quiet.

I went with the lazy and I-don’t-have-a-freewheel-tool option: I dribbled some Rock n Roll Gold between the fixed and moving parts of the freewheel, and it seems to move with less crud in the way. I’ll probably repeat that once again later.

Of course, this is academic for now, because I switched the wheel to fixed.

I was at Mad Fox yesterday, trying out their Saison and their Abbey ale and the Kolsch and the Pils, and thought to myself “this’d make a great beerneurOHMYGOD I DIDN’T BIKE HERE!”

    So that fell apart.

    Pah.

The WOD between Vienna and EFC is AWESOME. Snow’s been packed down, the ice was rough and grippy and crunchy, the 2.4-inch tires at 25 psi were spankerrific, and the 32×20 gearing on the MTB was perfect.

This is the kind of snow biking I’d signed up for.
