Definitely psyched to do this. Glad it’s a first come first served; I had friends that some were able to ride, and some weren’t because of the lottery.

I’ve got no idea about the ride, but The Storming of Thunder Ridge (which is a week earlier than Mountains of Misery) might be a good fit.

This sounds 75% resolutions, 25% wish list.

1: Continue the Bike Related Weight Loss (60lbs so far, that’s 21% body weight)
2: Once #1 hits 25% body weight, New Road Bike…. And it’s gotta be a pretty one too.
3: 2000 miles in the saddle (Strava says 546 since I bought my bike on 14 Jul)
4: Start Commuting to Work by Bike.
    5: Rule #5
6: Take my daughter along for a ride.
7: Finish Tyson’s Corner Bike Lanes
8: Ride the entirety of the W&OD and the FFX CCT (Not on the same day)
9: Go to France for Stages 16-21 of the TdF and ride a Col.
    10: More Group Rides!

Me: Tired and really hungry in the windy cold evening weather, biking west on the W&OD approaching the George Mason Dr intersection.

You: Nameless person whose dinner wafted a smell so magical that when it hit my nose I felt like I was wrapped inside a giant, delicious burrito.

I’ve never had such an intense pleasant smell hit my nose in such a way (and luckily I was only a few miles away from having dinner at my apartment). Thank you.

Been coming up from MVT on W&OD right at the trailhead, and there’s the guys with the portable BBQ trailer fired up and smoking something tasting good. Such torture for the rest of the ride back to Falls Church with the image of tasty smoky BBQ dancing in my head.

Agreed. A good pro always knows where his meals come from. Should probably submit an addendum to the list.

I never understood the appeal of instagram. Everyone spent years pining for ever-increasing pixels and quality for their camera phones, only to glom onto a program designed to ensure their pics looked like 1975 polaroids.

It’s funny, I’m going through scanning old photos from my mom’s old albums and working with software to remove the effects that people seem to overuse on Instagram.

Yea, with the new FreshBikes over in the Mosaic in Merrifield, they’re the second closest to me (Bonzai being closest), plus my gym’s right there, so I’ll have to stop in and drool some.

That would be like doing a cannonball from the 1m diving board landing smack dab on Michael Phelps’ back. What bad luck!

My first bike as an adult. Just your standard Trek 7300. In just a few more weeks the 50 lbs goal will result in finding it a Roadie mate.

I do enjoy reading the site, as they do at least have a fine appreciation for cycle racing, specifically the 80’s era. I do agree most of it is tongue-in-cheek, and there’s no way anyone could seriously adhere to all 91 rules.

Saw this one today at my friends bike shop in Rehoboth Beach, made me think of the bike you rode in the Arlington Fun Ride, Dirt.

Agreed!, though here in Rehoboth, its more or less early Sandy time. They’ve gone and canceled tomorrows pet parade on the boardwalk. The sea was churning pretty good up in Lewes by the Ferry.

That’s the Weather Channel camera crew setup for one of their remotes.

Been close a couple of times with some suicidal squirrels. Today’s ride had a cat dart out and quickly retreat, and another that sat down before crossing to watch me ride by. The biggest thing so far was a monarch butterfly on the W&OD that hit my right shoulder on the downhill from Vienna to Difficult Run.
