ParticipantJust signed up. Strava rider number 1192550. Apologies in advance to whatever Tribe I’m assigned to — I already have three weeks of out-of-the-country business travel scheduled between Jan and end of Feb. Will try to find a bike but will rickshaw miles count if I can’t?

I’m lobbying to put off my overseas travel until April, but probably won’t be able to get away with that. Besides, that starts to eat into much nicer riding weather. What a dilemma.

ParticipantOkay…. I threw your names down the stairs, and this is how they fell. 48 souls signed up. The average score for a rider is 120.73. There are 4.8 riders per team on 10 teams. Meaning that on average a team should have a score of 579.5 (score calculated by 1 point per mile and 10 points per day for an average week during November and December). Every team below has a score that deviates from the average by no more than 2.5 (in other words, the average score for each team is quite close). Each team has an average height of 5’11” and eats on average 1/2 gallon of ice cream per week (okay, well maybe I didnt mine the data that deep). The names below are suppose to be something we can use to identify you on STRAVA.
Team assignments were pretty random. I just kept throwing pieces of paper down the stairs until the scores were about the same.
Captains are people who will simply facilitate – like if there are any data or scoring kerfluffles. They may not need to do anything or maybe they will do lots. Who can really predict these things. Captains were volunteered by those people who volunteered to be captains, thus said volunteer who had the highest average score. They can also help organize team names or pointless awards.
The game starts Jan. 1 and goes to the last day of winter. U get 1 point for every mile ridden and 10 points for every day. Minimum ride is 1 mile.
This is all being done through STRAVA, the BikeArlington group. Ronwalf will share us the magical things we need to do.
THIS HAS BEEN REVISED
