ParticipantThanks for the update.

ParticipantI sometimes wonder how much litigation risk there is for NPS after so many years of accidents directly attributable to those boardwalks.

ParticipantOkay, how many of y’all are actually old enough to remember when “Tour de France” came out as a 45? Just dusted off my copy for old times sake.

Phil wood laced to h+sons formation face (no braking surface). I want to change to a lighter wheelset. I have a set of velocity aeroheads and they spin up so fast.
Sweet.
Glad your mug shot got on the thread courtesy of Pete. I was hunting that jersey/messenger bag combo up the Custis yesterday, but what are the odds with both of us on fixies heading in the same direction?

ParticipantVelocity B43’s on the Cinelli?
I’m tempted to have my Phil’s rebuilt with those…just ‘cuz.OneEighth

Unfortunately I think it’s closer to $2k still… hence why I wouldn’t want to lock it up.
Even with ebay, it gets really hard to stay sub $2k when putting something together.

ParticipantHoly smokes! That looks like a very tall frame. Tim Kelley might even fit that.

I don’t think we need a separate sub-forum for safety issues. There aren’t too many threads on the topic. And if those threads were separated out, they may not get as much notice as the General Discussion forum gets.
I’m thankful there aren’t many instances like this to report. That there aren’t many of them will make it easier to stay on top of security concerns in the area, too—less to take in. But if these sorts of alerts are not under a separate heading, they will get lost. This sort of thing is truly “fingertips info”.
I was out of town and not checking the forum last week, but am glad that you posted the info. The fact that I didn’t notice that you had done so underscores my point, btw.
Thanks though.

I haven’t seen the tacks, but I have a feeling some of the broken glass we encounter was done on purpose.
I’m with you there.
Pay particular attention to areas where non-riders/regular trail users have easy access. Think bridges alongside roadways, paths near parking lots or with easy walking access. Anyplace really that allows a perp to act and get away with minimal exposure.

ParticipantYou know, every time I read this thread, I’m thankful that it has been quite a long while since I’ve had any issue that required me to do more than put it quickly behind me (literally).

ParticipantWell, yeah, once in Tysons proper, you’re pretty much screwed. But there are decent routes that can get you to the bottlenecks more quickly. Oh joy.
Not my problem after today. Next camp is on a bike-friendly route (by which I mean that it is sufficiently bike-friendly for a kid on her own bike). Sweet!OneEighth
ParticipantI was in a car heading towards Tysons. Can’t think of a more effective way to remind myself how good my commute is. Rush hour around Tysons is unpleasant even if you can hop on some of the back roads.
Noticed quite a few riders on Westmoreland in the evenings this week. Too bad the effectiveness of good signage is limited by the intelligence of the target audience.
I’ll honk and wave if I see you again. White car. With black handlebar tape wrapped on the steering wheel (kidding).OneEighth
Participantvvill at 1700 on Westmoreland heading toward the intersection with Williamsburg this evening? On something (possibly greenish) with a straight bar?
