Actually, riding that hill “fixed” was quite something, too.

Wait…shouldn’t that be “fraccionist”? Good to see you c’rider. I know you earned every bit of the tail wind home this afternoon.

Glad that is finally being adressed. Hope the section of the Custis by Washington Blvd is next.

Out in NoVA land, it always seems to be either a mercedes or a prius. To the point that if I see either one, I just assume they’re going to do something incredibly stupid.

Today’s Prius drivers are yesterday’s Volvo drivers.
    With all that entails…NDMF.

Funny how it’s always a BMW. A good friend of mine and member of this forum until he moved to SF (Tyler Morell) used to say BMW needs a new tag line:

“BMW, building cars that make you believe you can do things you really can’t.

And here I always thought it meant “Bikes Made Weird.”

Conan Obrien is 6’4 and rides a Ti Serotta something-or-other*. Check out the EPIC head tube! I would be willing to bet that fork (its uber-long steerer tube) had to be custom made:

He was probably professionally fitted for that bike, but there must be something about the really tall guys that just makes them look not-quite-right on a bike.

Edit: Wow sorry about the HUGE picture :-)
Second edit: * Looks like an Otrott

Could have substituted a little seat to bar drop for that grotesque headtube. But hey, if it works for him, my two cents are just that.

Not sure the target audience is on the trails at 3:45 pm. Or even 7-something.
    Just sayin’.

Now is probably a good time to pull things apart, clean, and re-grease—especially headset bearings and bottom brackets. I will most likely follow-up with another round of cleaning and re-greasing after the April showers are past.

Americancyclo (with apologies for being a bit slow) and then Consularider sightings on my ride today.
How many folks in cars know each other and call out greetings? Didn’t even happen much when I was motorcycling into town.
Pretty sure I saw DismalScientist yesterday morning at Walter Reed and 4 Mile Run, but I was in the car and decided not to confuse things by shouting.
    Seriously, though—how lucky are we?
Be safe all, especially with the influx of tourist and buses.

Ibex makes wool liner gloves in varying thicknesses. I have found them much more effective than the synthetic liners that came with my Craft lobster gloves. The thin layer is thin enough to fit under my mid-weight Craft gloves as well. Yes, yes, I was clearly on a Craft binge at one point.
I have never owned Moose Mitts, etc, but have had decent luck with a wool base layer, lobster claw mid, and wind/waterproof REI outer mitt. Same idea, really. Then again, I don’t need to work gears, so dexterity is not an issue.
