    What about one to Pittsburgh?

When I priced out my options for getting to Pittsburgh with a bike, it turned out that a car was the cheapest…gas and one way rental fees included. Plus I was able to drop the car off downtown right next to the start of the trail. On the downside I wasn’t able to booze it up on the train to Pitt.

Any suggestions for a shuttle service to Harpers Ferry?

This place was mentioned recently by someone trying to get a crew together to head to Cumberland…they’re based in Hancock: http://candobicycle.com/rentals/shuttles

I have a Feedback Sports Velo Cache stand that I’m looking to sell. It’s in great shape, less than a year old, holds two bikes. I don’t have pictures yet but here’s a link on Amazon:

    $85 and it’s all your’s. I’m located in the Alexandria/Kingstowne area.

I’d take it if Hybrid doesn’t…

I feel like it will be packed with cabs and cars that don’t know how to navigate bikers. Considered going up to N for a bit until Penn Ave and then L. Any tried and tested routes?

The cabs, cars, and everything else are pretty good about navigating with bikers…I ride the route every day (well…when I’m not going on a longer ride) and even in the coldest weather this winter there was always another bike out on M.

Even if that’s the case in Arlington, people who ride on the MVT would still be affected. The overflow from DC enters the Potomac River. During and after heavy rainstorms, sections of the MVT can get flooded by the river.

Eh, much less of a deal once diluted. I mean, swimming/drinking is probably not the best idea, but still not the same as riding through some good ol fashioned untreated wastewater :).

    UPDATE:

It was (is) sewage! Arlington County has a crew out there as of 9:45pm working on the problem. In the meantime, it might be good to avoid the wet spots on the Custis trail under the high school parking lot.

And maybe wash your bike/clothes if you haven’t been avoiding them…

Thanks for the contact info Mr. Cannon!

You need a bigger wrench. Penetrating oil won’t hurt (will work better than wd40). I’d actually suggest a hex bit and breaker bar rather than a hex wrench.

Or a piece of pipe that will fit over your current wrench.

A penetrating spray like PB Blaster will make a huge difference if corrosion is the issue, trick is to spray it on and wait overnight.

Someone get these before I take the plunge on something I don’t need.

~$99 for Kreitler Challenger Rollers with Alloy Drums and Poly End Caps, 3-Inch – On the Amazon warehouse, so they are a return…but for the price and free shipping back there’s not much risk!

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001COPZOO/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all&sr=1-3&qid=1426097337

Note: if you look at some of the reviews you’ll see folks saying this is rollers only. The most recent review states that this is the whole kit.

Took the long way home, saw rcannon100 coming the other way (don’t think he recognized who was waving at him). The WOD between Columbia and Wilson was like an ice box…probably 15 degrees cooler than everywhere else!

Good on them for being out and about!

Rode 100 yards on the Custis and gave up. This was the first day that necessitated taking the roads over the trail. Roads weren’t too bad, so long as one stayed out of the bike lanes!
