Idk if it’s gonna repost the map, but the Oscar Wilde ride map is the best strava art I’ve ever seen. If you ever wanna lead it….. It’d be SO COOL TO RIDE IT!!!

I think we may expand on this in the future!
The snoopy was accidental? This is so much better than that….

Well I didn’t see Steve O’s post in time to add to the calendar, but I did go out bright (or rather dark) and early this morning!
Here’s the result:

(PS – in case anybody is considering riding anywhere near the mall this week, I highly recommend avoiding it. My ride back to Arlington after this was a real struggle!)
Hey this is really good! You should send him a copy!
Also it’s much nicer than saying something nasty directed at Trump, though we might be tempted to do that…..I’d love to join someone on one of these cool art rides! Though not at 6am, and probably not in the maze that is DC, though I’m gonna go there Saturday with the throngs, sigh…. Maybe I should strava my walk when I join the million people march (not just women — I mean really!) and see if it turns out arty….. :-p

ParticipantThanks Steve! Clicking on it didn’t work but I’ll look for it on the FS page.
Where /how should i have received an invitation? I also never found an invitation to join my team group, though Bob James said he’d sent me two. (He pinged me on fb – but if he hadn’t had another way to contact me I wouldabin sol….)Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

Please add to the FS Official-ish calendar. That way it will also show up on the FS home page for people who do not log into the forum regularly.
Thanks. How do we access the FS official-ish calendar? Where is it?

I(NTP)’ve been pretty happy with things as they’ve been to be honest. Plus I’m a total scrub. I like having a figurehead and the idea of this team pretty much being Bob James and his Backup Dancers makes me giggle.
Learning the shortcomings of Strava and this forum as organizing tools is an ongoing process but I’m paying attention and I’m happy to keep helping however I can. Doesnt seem like there will be a single solution that works for everybody. From now I’ll copy rides and links from one format to the other when I get the chance.
Don’t feel like you have to organize stuff for everybody Bob, just do what feels good.
Also, please everybody bother Judd and his team as much as possible because he clearly is a pain in the ass.
Lol maybe THAT shouldabin our group name!
So LSG, you vote we keep Bob as the figurehead but you do a lot of the work? And that way it’s not all on one person, because really you guys will split it?I would love to come up with some solutions — even temporary solutions — to the ride posting problem. I STILL can’t find the link to the ride we did today…. On my mobile app I can see the pther team posts with your link, Lsg, but the link doesn’t take me to the ride. Now I’m on the desktop, where I can’t see the posts with the link that I wanted to follow. Really that’s gonna be a dael breaker…. I’m lucky Bob pinged me on fb messenger last night so I could come. Should we all just do fb, or email, or what? I’d rather it was accessible to EVERYONE in FS, but the way it is now it’s accessible to hardly anyone, I think.
I came here to see if there’s a ride tomorrow…. I’m SURE there are rides, but I’ll never find them!

just wanted to correct the record that a proper noodle is performed at far less than 14 mph
exhibit A: https://www.strava.com/activities/830685551Thank you LSG! I was feeling small ever since I read the noodling comment. When I average 14 mph on a ride, that’s a fast ride. (I was doing it in the summer, but I seem to ride slower in the cold.)
The point is, for some of us 14 is not noodling….

Sorry I couldn’t make it. How was my beer? What team am I on?
I believe you’re on my team — team 15 — with LSG, and Bob James, Cynthia Palmer, Luis Filipe Diaz, and….. Darn, I forgot the name of the other guy who was at the Happy Hour from our team. And a lot more, of course, but that’s all my brain retained. I think it will be posted soon — tonight, they said.

I’ll be there.
In regards to getting there, if anyone would like to join me/convoy/etc., I plan on using this route from my office in Ballston to get there:
- Quincy St to Custis Trail
- Cross Key Bridge, get onto Water St
- Water St to Rock Creek Park Trail
- RCP Trail to P St then 22nd St
- route looks somewhat like this: https://goo.gl/maps/rUQd6YioR4K2
For bike parking (Rackspotter shows a dearth of capacity suitable for a large group), I have 2 ideas:
- Take command of one of the parking spaces out front and use it for storing bikes
- Set up bike racks across 22nd Street in the triangular space next to the Taras Shevchenko statue
Hey Bob (or do you prefer Bobco?
) What time-ish are you planning to leave? I’d be into convoying — except I might slow you down. I got bronchitis NYEve (someone up there is tryna sabotage my FS plans, grrrr) and am still only sleazing, so might not be up to speed yet by then…. I’ll be happy if I’m just back to myself. Also I hafta get snow chains!!! Like yesterday…..
I’ll be coming from 2m west of Ballston, so your commute works fine for me (In case you forgot our zoo lights ride conversation
)
Also — Has the bike parking thing been firmed up yet? I’m on the fence about which bike to ride because…. if it’s not secure I’ll ride the old trashy hybrid (and then you REALLY won’t wanna ride with me, lol!)

I’m probably going to have to arrive by car. Bleh. Training in Frederick that day and I won’t have time to get home and bike there. Still trying to figure out how I can get my 30 miles a day that week without the bike commute.
Judd, I feel your pain. Last year I came straight from upstate NY to the 2nd FS happy hour. I had my bike in the car, because of course I was riding while out of town…. I meant to go home first and bike to the Happy HOur, but then traffic ate an extra hour, and I woulda missed it if I’d done that.
BTW I hope you & Komorebi will still be doing those fun club rides, because they’re AWESOME, and also the only way I wouda met some of you people…..
I remember RSVPing for happy hour, but I read this whole long thread, and my RSVP isn’t here, so please count me in if you haven’t already. (I think there must be a previous thread, but justincase.) And btw this thread is a pretty good read, highly recommended, lol.
