There’s something important about keeping your back straight when you ride, and also tightening your core while riding. When you remember. Maybe you can use your back pain to help you remember.

This isn’t instead of the other stuff, but it oughtta help. It might help some on the spot….i hope.

    Good luck.

I’m planning to come on the ride and for the lunch, but not the game. I’ll probably meet up at the caboose in Bluemont.

Thanks for organizing this, and I Steve O!

UPDATE: As no one objected, beans have been “baking” all night. Judging by how they smell I would expect more of a curry experience than a “Bush’s” experience. Should be fun. 😎

It would be lovely if you could come Nadine, even if it is to just make an appearance. I completely understand about the husband situation though.

Last night I had to talk through this with mine, explaining that he is always welcome to my bike social events, but that I’m riding there, and this one is further afield than he’s attempted. If he wanted to go for it, I would be happy and support him, but if he needed SAG to get home, I couldn’t help. The option for him to drive was also put on the table, but the more important point was “The decision is yours and I will love and support whichever one you decide for yourself. Regardless, I will be home late.”

I’m sorry I didn’t make it, Kitty. I should have come just to put in an appearance, as you said. It wouldabin a lovely ride. Well except for all those people on the trail! I always have that conflict when there are Sat pm biking activities. Somehow it’s not such a big deal during the day… And mine doesn’t drive, so the driving option isn’t there for him. He actually doesn’t drive, drink, or, these days, ride a bike. I hafta do all three. Can you beLIEVE it? 😮

I hope to see you soon at the next thing….. I did enjoy the pictures….

Totally reasonable to ask for RSVPs. However….I’m gonna be last minute about it I’m afraid. I’d love to come, but since my husband has stopped biking I’m gonna hafta choose between this gig and hanging with him tonight. (He doesn’t drive either. I’d hafta give up biking there to drive him…. I don’t think I want him there THAT badly…)

I just love the game thing, though. Maybe I’ll come for a short time. When are you guys thinking the games are likely to start? I’d count as a veg, though technically I’m a pescetarian…

Coooool! I love your rides. But i realized yesterday that there were places where I mightabin better off riding my hybrid…Do you know yet if there will be comparable amounts of dirt & gravel? (Grassy bits don’t count.)

Thanks for a great ride, Bob and for posting all the notes i couldn’t take yesterday (though I tried!) Your enthusiasm for the history is the best!

And thanks to everyone else, too, for a fun ride. I wish those tandem riders were on the forum because I thought they were awesome, but I didn’t really talk to them -.the ride hadda be challenging enough for that dude captaining a tandem with a blind passenger for the first time without me distracting them….

Also, thanks for taking care of me when I fell – and extra thanks to Reji for getting me ice and compression wrap at the first break. Look how much better that bump is today! For those who didn’t see, that thing was the size of a half grapefruit right after I fell. Now it’s barely the size of a fried egg!2b03b2cda019c3167636d9d0c9e8af5c.jpgca739cd7c7e2bf071e6f9d890be87e57.jpg

Yep. I will be there tonight (official ride meets at 6:30, wheels rolling at 6:45, but I will most likely be there around 6:00 to do a quick loop before the official ride).

And racing tomorrow night. You should come race. The beginner race is at 6:00. And even if you do not come to race, you should definitely come to spectate. The Invitational is tomorrow (last race of the series). It is WELL worth it to watch. I can not wait to see what drevil is going to wear!

Wait, what race is tomorrow the last of, that one can come spectate? The only thing I see on the calendar for tomorrow pm is LGA, which is most definitely not a spectator sport.

Looks like I won’t make it after all….:-(
I’m regretful – it sounds like so much fun – but my husband is going to Beijing tomorrow, and he is not busy tonight, as he’d predicted. Also I hafta get up in the am to drive him to Dulles. (….which he could totally bike to -RIGHT, Bobco???)

Also what pace (ish) are you thinking? Asking because given the terrain you described I’m wondering if my hybrid would be a good idea. But of course it’s slower.

Fun Quotient: 2.6 times funner than Bicycle Fun Club and equally as fun as Bicycle Fan Club

Parts of this ride will be on dark trails (just like the Easter ride), so be sure to bring your good lights and have them fully charged.

I’m thinking about it, not sure yet because of other factors. One thing that would help me would be arranging for the option of company riding to/ from the ride. I’ll be coming from the Custis/W&OD intersection.

A ride home afterwards is probably the main thing – and will likely be easier to arrange, won’t it? But anyhow, if anyone would be willing, lmk. Only thing is….

I’m afraid I ride more slowly in the dark because of night vision issues – which is why I’ve never done one of these before…. So I have one voice in my head telling me it’s a dumb idea for me to come at all, and another saying, Come on, sounds like fun! Oh and my night vision isn’t gonna get better (I have pigmentary glaucoma, which
has a young onset – I was 26.) so what am i waiting for? Possibly better lights – that would make a difference. But riding with a group where everyone has lights helps light up the path too….
