Would you believe there’s a house with reindeer on its lawn still, in my neighborhood? CivilWarBeth calls these “albino reindeer” [emoji38][emoji1744]
Also…. I’ve been WONDERING how you’ve managed to deal with this contest, Ricky. It’s been awesome! But it’s always seemed like it must be a lotta work. Now I know what your secret is…. Thanks Jo! [emoji38][emoji1360] Love you guys!
No idea how anyone would have anything to say about the points though. They’re not on the leaderboard, so [emoji848] is there a way to know what they are? Just curious. I’m not in it for the points, though I want enough of them for you guys to feel the love for this [emoji323][emoji76]GAME [emoji3531]
And haha a homemade patch from one of my most colorful FS friends would be awesome [emoji1]Also Carol, I’d play if you got a game going after FS!
I like spring but I’m always sorry to see the end of Freezing Saddles

Participant3/14/21 – scientist for Einstein’s birthday
Wow everyone came up with such cool subjects! AlanA’s backup was my reach. I ended up falling asleep midday and waking up when the wind was too strong to bike east to the Rachel Carson place. (I like my rude headwind shocks upfront.) And the Jane Goodall place was in Tyson’s. Tyson’s isn’t far, but it’s such a no cyclist’s land. So much for getting a pic of a female scientist.
I do live right by banneker park, and I had a feeling maybe he’d been an interesting scientist, but then I decided that was probably wishful thinking. [emoji2358][emoji38] Good thing 2 others got it already.
So here’s one more for the birthday boy. Happy birthday Einstein!
Oh yeah and this makes 2 days in a row that I hadda go looking for something I have a perfectly good one of at home. My husband is a scientist. Drevil didn’t say it hadda be a famous one, did he? [emoji848]

It’s hard to go too far around DMV without seeing signs honoring Dr. Fauci
Here is one with some St. Patty’s Day theme surrounding it.His accomplishments are many; you might have heard some in the news this past year.
He is director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the chief medical advisor to the president.[ATTACH=CONFIG]25113[/ATTACH]
Oh what a great idea. Wish I’d thought of it.

3/14/21 – Scientist
This monument is dedicated to Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, a system of alternative medicine. Hahnemann was a 19th century German physician and chemist and is the first foreigner not associated with the American Revolution to be honored by sculpture in Washington.
The monument could also be see as a reflection of the evolution of the perception of science. Now, homeopathy is seen by many as a pseudoscience (statements beliefs, or practices that claim to be both scientific and factual but are incompatible with the scientific method). But at the memorial’s unveiling in 1900, the ceremony was attended by President McKinley and many medical professionals.

Participant3/13/21 – black cat, ladder, or umbrella
My black cat is definitely cooler than this, but this falls within the rules of the game better. I think.
It’s 2 playground ladders on a climbing structure at glencarlyn park.
I rode trails, late….. I took forever to get out on the bike today because I woke with a headache that took all day to dissipate, despite Advil, Sudafed & naproxen. Because [emoji2358] spring. Getting out isn’t the problem – it’s putting a helmet on a headache. [emoji33]
My cat never gives me headaches – though he is kinda crazy sometimes [emoji16][emoji1744]

…. black cats are harder to home than other cats – for no good reason. So please remember to give some love to a black cat if you’re given the chance. https://nationaltoday.com/news/black-cats-shelters/
That’s too bad. We have a former feral black cat we got after he came to live in our driveway 3 yrs ago. The shelter that neutered him said he was a year old and that that meant he might not ever trust humans or be a real pet. But he is – he’s wonderful.
This is Gracie (male.) He’s 4 now.
I’ve decided he was sent as a team effort, by my mom, our friend Bonnie, and our dog Pinky, who died 3, 2, & 1 year before Gracie appeared in our driveway, all within a couple of days of each other’s anniversaries. He’s named for Bonnie, who was a friend of ours since college & only 50 when she died. Her last name was Gracer.
I don’t think Gracie can help me with today’s challenge (we’re never supposed to use our own anything in this game, right?) but he’s awesome, so I wanted to share. He’s clearly been great luck for us. Doesn’t even trigger my husband’s cat allergies!

Since I had heard that Drevil wasn’t aware that there were so many flowers in bloom right now, it amused me to go out and capture a photo of one of the smaller varieties currently in bloom. Purple dead nettle is commonly known as a “weed,” but is both edible and an important flower to pollinators because it blooms throughout a good portion of the year. Earlier in 2020, I added it to a few sandwiches and salads because we were trying to cut down on our visits to the grocery store during the pandemic. So I think it’s a rather cool plant, and am happy that it has covered a lot of my yard.
(But these are not located in my yard – just off the trail about a mile away from home.)

This is very cool. The only weed I find in my yard that I know is edible is purslane. Now I wanna know more!

Participant3/11/21-face using pareidolia
I’ve always seen faces in cars – but I realized on my ride today that they’ve changed! They used to look a lot happier & cuter – or at least some of them did. While car faces still look like faces, today’s cars mostly look nonplussed. I wonder if that’s a reflection of social changes [emoji848]
Anyhow after scouring a coupla neighborhoods and finding all these bored looking cars, I finally have up & went down Anne’s cul de sac, where I know her neighbor has an old fashioned beetle. (Bet you can guess how I know that [emoji38][emoji1360]Go Drevil!) Beetles always look happy.
This Beetle was fronted into the driveway. They look a bit different from behind…..This one has a dark arched thing on the hood that when turned upside down makes a nice smile underneath the taillight eyes.
Oh and btw I love Bobby McFerrin – but “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” was so overplayed that I didn’t like him till after I heard some of his other stuff.
Among my favorites of his are: Yes, You
