ParticipantCheck your PM for a universal unlocking method that costs you between $25 and $50.

ParticipantThere are few ads in Craig’s List for TIG welding:

ParticipantFirst, TIG welding requires that you remove the paint(such as by using Acetone), and clean the surface as much as possible. I would try independent auto repair shops, but there is not much money they can make from you. You could get a torch($58) from Home Depot and aluminum brazing rod($5, but you might need several), and weld it yourself as shown in the following videos, but I don’t know if it would be strong enough. A new frame might be a better option.

ParticipantNext time you buy a U-Lock, fill the keyhole with grease(not oil). The idea is that grease stays there so water has no place to enter. If you use oil, water will displace it over time. Do that every few months. After adding grease, insert your key, then take it out and remove excess grease. Repeat as needed so when using your keys, no grease gets on your hands. My current U-Lock lasted several years that way. My first U-Lock(OnGuard) lasted only 4 months without this method.

ParticipantJust saw another coverage of this story on ABC. They say Metro didn’t give them an answer when they are going to be finished.
Metro has spent $3.8 million and 5 years building 2 bike racks. They’re still unfinished.(That’s about $20K per bike)

The poll is confusing, the order of the options is not the same when looking at the result as shown in your picture. I selected the same option as you(the one with the check mark).

ParticipantThanks Dewey. I see they are removing the clause that E-Bikes shouldn’t be operated anywhere(even with pedaling alone, including downhill on roads) above 25 MPH.

I believe this may be the one.
Unfortunately not the exact one. See this Google Maps link that shows where the cyclist went in the video. In the video, at time index 3:07:18, the cyclist turns right(to the south), and the trail branches into 2 direction 10 seconds later(east toward the high school where the cyclist crashed, and south toward the start of the trail). At time index 3:07:30, you will see the trail intersection, and the cyclist went south instead of east. However, like I said, I saw several bridges that look the same. All wooden, some only have a center bollard, others have 3. Here are some timing that I noted:
2:50:04 Crossing John Tyler Hwy
2:58:17 Crossing Two Rivers RD
3:02:02 Bridge 1 bollard
3:03:22 Crossing Heritage Landing RD
3:04:02 Crossing John Rolfe LN
3:07:18 Going south near the endAlso, I think the cyclist who crashed was heading west. This is based on Google maps showing that there is a 3-foot drop across the bridge, and the witness said he was going downhill.

ParticipantFound a YouTube video showing a similar bridge with similar bollards on the same trail. It seems that they are all constructed the same way after seeing several bridges. All wooden bridges, and earlier in the day there was light rain for 30 minutes. The side bollards are awkward to get around.

ParticipantI can see bollards at both sides of the bridge. Using 3D View(Switch to Satellite view, then to the lower right above + and -, click on the globe symbol, then 3D. Use Ctrl+Left drag to rotate, and mouse scroll wheel to move around), here is a good picture:

ParticipantAs a compromise, I use the noise from my shifters as a bell. One step down, then one step back, and repeat if necessary.

ParticipantThis is the route that I recommend(through Ashburn Village Blvd, I have checked StreetView/Satellite thoroughly). It has either sidepaths or sidewalks. There are 2 spots where you have to walk your bike for 30 and 150 feet. Satellite images are more recent than Street View when checking for connections. Image date is shown in the bottom right of the map.
As shown on the map , you use sidepaths/sidewalks along the direction of traffic until you reach Farmwell RD. There is one block without sidepaths/sidewalks south of that on the direction of traffic, so at that block, you need to switch to the other side, then back again, as shown on the map. At Farmwell RD intersection, after crossing to the other side, you need to walk your bike(30 feet) to the sidepath on the southeast corner.
As you approach Red Rum DR, you have to walk your bike about 150 ft, then sidepaths/sidewalks will take you to your destination.

Thanks- I’ll do the Rec Center cut-through.
I found an interesting connection if you want to avoid Lewinsville RD traffic altogether. Click on this Google Map link to see it. It connects Old Cedar RD to Old Falls RD. If you zoom out the map, you find the directions that you posted along with Subby suggested shortcut. Somehow Google refuses to make a path through it, even for peds; proabaly because the north side doesn’t touch the road. In this Street View link, you can see that it’s a paved multiuse path. I hope that you can see it despite it’s covered with leaves.

ParticipantI doubt they would keep it open. Sunset Hills RD has a sidewalk on one side, and it’s not the W&OD side, which makes it harder for some. So it means using the road for one block, and on the next block there is a parking lot/service road that takes you to the rest of the W&OD. See this map link.
