New trail segment is almost finished northwest of Tysons, to make it easier for those coming from the west to reach the area, and it’s mostly flat. Here is a Street View link. The trail is in the center of the picture as of June. Below is how it looks now. It seems that it will open within a day or two. It has its own street lighting. It comes out at the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Spring Hill RD. Here is a 3D Google view link. The trail occupies the green area between buildings and cuts through the trees to reach residential streets in Vienna.

I couldn’t find a link to the project, but I suspect it’s part of this project: http://connectroute7.org

Rear wheel flat, seems to have been left there for a long time.

Found a similar bike, not sure if it’s the same bike, I couldn’t find the serial number. The current “owner”; a 70+ old Korean, said he paid $400 for it at JP Shopping Center, which I think he meant BJ Warehouse as he was pointing to its direction. He has the keys to the bike, which is why I think it’s a different bike. He hangs out with his friends at the same place everyday, and always have the bike in sight. PM Sent.

That’s perhaps for guns and the like, for cars, there is attempted vehicular homicide.

In Fairfax, two stores are closing: Sears at Fair Oaks Mall(Google Maps), and Modell’s Sporting Goods at Fair Lakes Shopping Center. Both stores seem full, so they just started, and might remain open for months. Modell’s hasn’t gotten their winter gear yet, only saw light jackets for $30. Normally jackets start at $50-$60, then on black Friday lower them to $35-$40.

Sears has most things in the 15% to 50% range. No bikes to speak of, only one helmet left. Two things related to biking:

1 – Balaclavas at 15%. You can find them in the middle of the tools section. The two neon ones to the right; in the picture below; are made of breathable fleece, not for the coldest weather. The one to the left is made of regular thin fabric.
2 – Torque Wrenches at 20%. The cheapest one is $16 after the discounts(even lower online), but is only suitable for high torque parts like cassettes, and some bottom brackets. The next more expensive one costs $64 after the discounts. Tools in general are at $20% off.

Here is how to get to Modell’s from the W&OD at Reston, which is through Fairfax County Parkway Trail, and it really takes one hour. If you are pressed for time, then you can go to Vienna Metro, then take Fairfax Connector bus 630, which goes straight to Fair Oaks Mall through I-66, then to Fair Lakes Shopping Center. However, you will probably lose on metro what you gain from the store.

Few days ago, I observed someone taking his folding Bird-like eScooter on Metro. It took a lot less space than a folding bike. So, I am going to start recommending them.

Here is an app that I found that keep GPS always on, even when the screen is off, and also ad-free(Link to search result):

I don’t use Strava, but it seems this is a screen-off problem. However, as far as I know, it’s not Android that turns the GPS chip off when the screen is off, but if all apps decide to stop requesting GPS data when the screen is off, then the chip is turned off. So, Android tells the app the screen is off, and the app turns off GPS requests. It’s like YouTube app, if you want to listen to music, and not watch the video, you can’t. YouTube app stops playing both Audio/Video when the screen is off, not Android.

If Strava doesn’t fix the problem, or if there are no settings to change, then one solution is to find an app that keeps GPS on even when the screen is off. So when Strava asks for GPS location, it’s ready.

The GPS L1 and L2 frequencies are 1575 and 1227 MHz, respectively. Unless the power supply has a really strong upper harmonic or the GPS receiver has an IF in the 100-500 KHz range, I’m not convinced the power supply is interfering w/ GPS reception.

Unfortunately, such power supplies use square waves, which have high frequency component. I had a 12V power supply once that interfered with my TV Tuner. It took me a while to find the source. After opening it up, I found that it wasn’t shielded. I got it from a US eBay seller. Another one; from another US eBay seller was shielded and never caused problems. However, it seems from the OP testing that the light is not the source of the problem.

I did add a light, but that was a week ago. Not sure when I first actually used the light, though I certainly did this AM. Would it matter if the light was turned on?

Many of modern lights use what’s called a switching power supply(Sometimes called step-up voltage regulator, or boost regulator, or buck converter), even if they run on regular or Lithium batteries. The manufacturer needs to have these shielded to prevent interference. They generate high frequency signal in the range of 100 to 500 KHz. They are two times more energy efficient than their earlier predecessors(called linear voltage regulators), which means longer battery life(See this video, but you need to know a bit about electronics). The power supply could be on, even if the light is off, especially if it’s a press/toggle button as opposed to a slide button; the latter could be turning the power off entirely. So keep the light few feet away from your phone to see if it’s the source. Post a link to the light if you can.

Did you change your lights, or carry different devices? Some may create interference.
