Any words of wisdom on how to join team #19 in Strava?
You should just be able to click the link that Cathy put in the post at the top — this: https://www.strava.com/clubs/810294 — and then click the orange “Join” button I don’t think she set it for approvals only.
Nice meeting everyone this evening. See you out there!

ParticipantThere are a few Pointless Prizes on the leaderboard that I don’t see in this thread, such as Billy Goat and Tortoise and Hare — are those off the books this year?

I ride some, commuting from McLean to DC at least once a week. Bikes are good! Can’t wait to meet everyone. Also we are going to win. Did I mention that?
Better hit that 10 mile weekly cycling goal!

Five Below (Freezing)Sorry I missed tonight, team! (Or at least I was told this is my team. If not ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ) I had a family commitment tonight, but looking forward to meeting up soon!

ParticipantI’d like to imagine that the teams actually haven’t been formed yet and that some time this week the 26 team captains will gather for a rotisserie style snake draft.

There, that’s better.

ParticipantWhat’s the bike parking (or locking) situation at HighLine R&R?

Beautiful photograph. The answer is… I will want to see photographs that remind me specifically of freezing saddles. Something that has at least something bicycle-related is good (even a shadow, or perhaps just tire tracks). Gorgeous photos.. yeah, I can’t say that I won’t consider them, but I will err towards the bikey as the plan is to construct a thematic calendar.
Love the idea of a bike-themed calendar. I just sent my mom one for Christmas of pictures I took from my bike in 2019 (titled “Bikes and Views”); this was not one of them, but there were a lot of the Capitol at sunset or the Reflecting Pool at sunrise ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Obviously one important feature will be that the photos are taken with a high-enough resolution that they can print on 8×11 or 12×12. Look forward to seeing what I can contribute!

What’s to dispute? There’s a red right arrow with a Walk sign and a green right arrow with a Don’t Walk sign. Proceed accordingly.
I mean, technically you can dispute anything. (Merica!) But from a legal standpoint, the cyclist in that scenario would be — and I’m pretty sure this is the technical term used in the Restatement of Torts (2nd) — screwed.

I wondered if there had to be something bike related in the picture. If it was up to me, I’d say yes, but it isn’t up to me
And if it was up to me, I’d say no. To me, cycling in the winter — and all year really — is about the adventure and the views. The best views are from my bike, typically not of my bike. But, like you said, not up to me.

ParticipantWhat about a picture taken while riding your bike during BAFS 2020, but that doesn’t include your bike? For example, from 2019:
