Participant3/1/23: Tinman
Continuing the horror theme, the tinman is also known as the Tin Woodman. In one of the Oz adventures we learned that the Wicked Witch of the East enchanted his axe and caused him to chop his body parts off limb by limb, because he was in love with her ward, Nimmie Amee. Each chopped limb was replaced by the tinsmith Ku-Klip with a counterpart made of tin.
So here is some chopped wood.

Participant2/28/23: the Scarecrow
I saw some flying monkeys overhead and I thought perhaps I would find bits of the Scarecrow. Alas, I was correct. Some bits fell in this street gutter!

Some of these piles of top soil are riper than others. College Park produces this material for residents to use from leaves and other materials.

Whenever I see this vehicle the paint scheme reminds me of the Trapper Keeper I would have had in the 80s. It even has a Golden Girls sticker if you look closely.

Is it going to be all on road or in the off-road brush pictured? I was just looking at the rail ROWs and both from NE branch and the RR parallel to RI Ave would require expensive bridges.
No bridges. It just runs alongside RI Ave. They are taking away a vehicle lane northbound starting at Armentrout up to the current trail terminus.

All this construction is the future Trolley Trail connection through Hyattsville, which will make it easier for bike commuters in the future!

I rode 15 miles in five different parking garages looking at license plates. I found several California plates but nothing farther than that. So I dove back into the rain to get home and stopped 10 feet short of my husband‘s license plate and took a photo. When I got in the house, I consulted my very knowledgeable geographer (Ph.D daughter) and similarly brilliant geologist (son) as well as my local math expert (husband). All art map, globe and atlas geeks. After some discussion about which assumptions to make in their calculations, they all came up with about the same answer. Using the GPS coordinates of my husband’s license plate, if you go around the Earth in a line it is approximately 19,371 miles so therefore, I win!
I do want to say that Reston town Center has an extraordinarily high concentration of vanity license plates. I think the Commonwealth must need to raise the price on those things!

Google maps said that this car was parked at the University of Maryland 2,765 miles from California.

Maybe minimal traditional? This structure was built in 1957. I think the metal window frames and cubist look make it interesting.

Participant2/12/23: Superb Owl
Having submitted photos of the objects in the area that are more obviously owls multiple times, I thought that I would submit this art on a utility box as looking like it is covered with a number of stylized owl eyes.
