I may make it to this one. I work 2 blocks away and have a meeting that ends at 5, a beer may be a requirement.

I see others in Reddit jerseys out on the W&OD from time to time. I wear that jersey more often than my others, not sure why. Once I had a random person in a car at a stoplight yell “NARWHAL BACON!!!” at me repeatedly until I realized what was up and acknowledged them.

Went back to my hometown this weekend and brought my bike along to go for a ride with my Dad and Sister on Sunday. We did 38 miles on the back roads of Limerick/Linfield PA.

Went through there today around 11:30. That pine tree at the bend looks like it is about to fall over.

Interesting stats. I was out yesterday as well, left Ballston around 8am for Mt. Vernon and back. Trail was sparse at first but on the return trip I saw several riders do no calls when passing families, and others that were very annoyed by the presence of others on the trail. But most called passes and seemed OK with the fact that the trail was more crowded because of the holiday.

Yeah I had to look up the street names when making the post.

I may show up this week, taking Friday off because of Memorial Day. Planning on riding to Mount Vernon and back, so a morning pit stop may be in order.

Me: Riding on W&OD heading east just past N Washington Street
You: Coming up the connection to 19th street to turn onto trail heading west without looking or stopping almost causing me to t-bone you.

We both made the “woah woah waoh” call. Luckily a crash was avoided, but you owe me some new brake pads.

Had a great time and it was awesome to meet everybody. Thanks again to the organizers, can’t wait for the next one (even if it is in the far away land of DC).

Weather report is looking iffy – the beer garden is not the greatest place to be in a thunderstorm. Is there a backup plan?

30% chance of rain, isolated thunderstorms. Not too worried about it.

Any issues with cleaning the top, the biggest negative in the reviews?

It can be difficult to clean the cap. I rinse out the lid and mug after each use, and give it a good soak once a week. I have also heard of people using pipe cleaners to give the opening mechanism a good scrub. I haven’t had any issues with off flavors etc. I also think they sell replacement caps (not a perfect solution, but an option).

I do have to admit that the Klean Kanteen Insulated with the 2 cap option mentioned above is intriguing.
