Just bumping this up again…don’t forget the HP100 is this Sunday!

My house is now busting with great hand-ups, giveaways and more from some awesome sponsors who are supporting Women & Bicycles. Recruit the women in your life to come join you! All are invited.

You can get more details on http://www.HainsPoint100.com and also on the Facebook event page where I’m updating with some of the great stuff I’ll be giving away. If you’re coming, please remember to fill out the “sign up” form so I have an idea of how many are coming and to send out any last minute updates.

By the way, you don’t have to ride the whole 100 miles…this year the “100” means 100 miles, 100 kilometers, 100 miles (as a team), 100 minutes or 100% support for WABA’s Women & Bicycles.

    See you on the 21st!

Hope to see you out there!

What’s with the crutch for Megabeth?

Bad dismount off bike. Dislocated ankle/tons o’ ankle fractures. Long recovery. First time out on one crutch was at the Fair. Prior to that I was on two crutches, no weight bearing for a month. P/T started today. No summer/early fall riding for me! Good times…

(Side note: National Bike Challenge e-mailed me saying “Hey, you haven’t uploaded any rides recently…” Nearly made me cry.)

Decided I would avoid the crazy trails today and go on a trail-free diet to work… It was certainly an experience.

Spotted a large…. errr…. dildo in the center of the intersection of Washington Blvd and N. Sycamore St. I would have taken a photo but I was being chased by a 2 ton truck. On that note, I was shocked at how many Sunday drivers REALLY wanted me to be with god today… literally!

So…yes, I can attest that Dickie saw a dickie.

I was driving the AdventureVagen filled with four Team Sticky Fingers ladies. Four bikes on top. Headed out to Luray to pre-ride the Tour of Page County course.

We were chitter-chattering along and all of a sudden one lady yelled out from the back seat, “THERE IS A BLACK DILDO ON THE STREET!” and, yes…there was, I saw it in my own side-view mirror as I drove along.

It was affectionately referred to as “blenis” the rest of the day. We looked for it on the return trip, but alas, it had gone on to other pastures.

(By the way, if anyone finds two large car magnets with the Team Sticky Fingers logo on it, can you return it to me? They blew off the car somewhere before the “blenis” and Luray.)

I did this ride a few years ago and hit some parts of Arlington I had never seen before by bike. It’s a chill ride and a great way to enjoy a spring day and meet new people.

Thank you to the library folks who do this year after year. (I’m sorry I can’t make it this year. I will be out of town.)

Oh no no! It’s oh so right! Same thing happened a few years ago. We threw beads on St. Patrick’s Day. ’twas crazy fun.

Bah. Sorry guys. The Plague got a hold of me. I’m back on the bike. And, now this picture is a little anti-climactic…

Oxon Hill bike club does a nice ride in May the Patuxent River Rural Legacy Ride. They have a 22, 44 and 66 mile option. I was going to speak on the ride last year but it looks like the routes have changed a little bit. Car traffic was relatively low and there were plenty of cyclists and signage pointing out to drivers to watch for cyclists. In addition to the routes, it also looks like they changed the start/finish so if anyone has been there before please chime in. (In year’s past, the start/finish had plenty of parking, clean bathrooms and a lovely view.)

The volunteers at the rest stops are friendly, helpful and they make tomato sandwiches that are divine.

Details about the ride here: http://ohbike.org/

Ha! (We usually do have cupcakes in our pocket for throwing at people…but most of the time we end up eating them ourselves.)

It is important to be wise. Plan for the cold and have some bail-outs where you can stop to get coffee mid-ride if you can.

I know this is a family forum, but I read “bail” as “ball”…and, you can see my reason for thinking “Dang, Pete IS hard core.”
