Either the jogger I just passed was using a language learning app on his smartphone, or someone was telling me again and again, in a very affected Spanish accent, that he loved me.
Where would we be without your contributions on the WaPo comments boards?

THUD – I hope you’re okay, cause you smacked right into my chest, and bounced off my leg. feathers went up my nose.
OMG! I’ve come very close to bisecting squirrels, and birds have flown close by, but never up my nose.

ParticipantThis is common on the “trail” around the Tidal Basin on Ohio Drive (Street View here). Many pedestrians, many large out-of-town groups splayed out four abreast, very few aware of it being an active trail. I really do not like that stretch. Southbound into Virginia I take the road, but in the evenings I have to use the sidewalk.

Did the passing rider actually make contact with the NB riders or did the NB collide with themselves? The passing rider definitely used poor judgment, but 3 riders in tight formation with a tail wind can pick up a lot of speed on that stretch – we all have a responsibility to ride safely and maintain a safe distance.
Yes the passing rider made contact. The three riders were not moving that fast, though they were in close formation, which suggested they knew each other, and this was reinforced by the conversation after the crash. I’ll look at the video of them again to see just how close.

Beyond chiding the rider, did you give your information to anyone? You should have to those injured. Maybe if you did not, you should post signs there asking anyone involved to contact you. Any chance you were Strava-ing so you could see who they may have been? The Strava flyby would show them if they were running it as well.
I did, but I was not running Strava, which now I will be.

Always a good idea to have a helmet mounted mirror in cases like this. You can keep an eye on the bikers behind you and move to the left to block an unsafe pass.
I have a handlebar mirror which unfortunately is a bit too low and needs remounting, but which does provide a good view. However, this all happened so fast with the appearance of the NB riders from around the curve that no move would have been timely enough. And I would not necessarily be comfortable moving towards the center line when a group of three is approaching; more the opposite really, anticipating an overtake move from one of them.

ParticipantI always end up with tee too small for me, so I pass them on to the missus, and lord knows what she does with them! 😎

ParticipantThanks Pinky for hooking up one of our DC Bike party members in the DC Bike Ride on the 22nd. You had a tube to fit where none of us did, and you had the CO2 cart to get us going again.

ParticipantThings like old hardware that has no use for me. Do I need a table for that? My OCD doesn’t allow me to just toss all of that gear.

ParticipantWow I had no idea that they were going to be this kind of place. I was afraid it would be yet another store at which to buy tech gadgets.
But a welding shop!??! Holy fark, the mind spins with possibilities…. That pony-up is a bit of a barrier though; would have to see what they offer before throwing down.

I’m in complete agreement and have done exactly that for 2 years. However this guy is a habitual aggressor, this not being the his first time harassing me and other female runners as he aggressively speeds by and yells at us. At some point, someone needs to take a stand and stop him. I’ve filed a police report and plan on pressing charges.
So what does he ride? Any other distinguishing characteristics?
I have video on now for all my rides just in case ‘s’ like this happens.
