ParticipantLumberjacks are quite familiar with wearing women’s clothing. There was a documentary filmed about it in the 70s… something something flying circus

ParticipantSo as I was crossing the 14th street bridge tonight I gave a habitual courtesy ding of my bell as I passed… a 50 gal. trash bag full of sticks.

ParticipantI will attempt this, what’s it gonna be, a 120ish mile day? I hope the weather is nice. May need to bring a Crown Royal brand toe warmer.

ParticipantDunno if this has been talked about already but someone brought it up at Coffee Club this morning:
If you happen to live and work in DC and don’t want to get stuck with a losing team full of wimpy teeny tiny microcommutes, – don’t ask to be put on a locals only team – , instead ask to be put on one of the VA or MD teams and get those miles biking out to meet your new friends.

ParticipantThanks for setting up registration again, it was an entertaining experience in and of itself

ParticipantYep if the batteries are too loose and the connection is patchy, I put layers of tape on the inside of the cap until it’s tight. The connections are usually a spring in the center bottom (which can be bent up to increase tension) and a clip along the side of the upper battery that kind of holds them in place. As long as you don’t block either of those connections and the batteries are oriented properly it should work.
I like layering tape around cylindrical headlight batteries to keep them from rattling around too.

ParticipantInteresting. Gonna try buying Trump a bike when he moves in, seems like we could get DC’s infrastructure budget funded.

ParticipantIf there is a wide work vehicle parked all day with a couple wheels in the bike lane, and some cones set out at the bumpers (in the bike lane) is that a blockage or not? I kept waffling on how to answer in this situation which seems to be very common at that Clarendon spot. When there’s no traffic nearby it’s free and easy to avoid but if there is heavy traffic it’s a scary situation…
Unrelated moment of Zen:

Oh yeah for everybody’s benefit: the curry chicken (pockets? pasties? dunno what they call em here) these guys make were really really really (really!) good! Whenever I pass by here in the future I will buy five or six and eat them all immediately.
I did have some beef with the cue sheet frequently being over-complicated and unclear, at one point some marshals were waiting at an intersection giving (correct) directions that disagreed with the cue sheet entirely. There are definitely a few places where people wind up making wrong turns/getting lost both years I’ve done this now – just put some signs up, yeesh!
Despite that it was my favorite organized ride this year for sure.
