Historic home with an open concept layout and the beginnings of a pool.
Might need more walls but the town said these walls must stay.

Don’t know what to do today, last minute planner?
Join Team 4 at The Bike Lane, Reston, MM16.5 of the W&OD at 1 pm. The route is currently 22 miles. The Route is: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41975799 Starts out through some of my favorite roads through Reston/Herndon, more riding than sightseeing. Then we’ll see some of my favorite haunts Dranesville Civil War stuff and some art. At Duck, Duck, Goose will have a check-in to see if we want to do the Reston Town Center loop or just press on for beer.LeftyLaura
Participant2/10/2023 Wild card – this day in history
Today, in Virginia the patent was given for the first fire extinguisher. Now I spent my ride looking at buildings, planning to go to stores or fire houses to inquire, but lo & behold one appeared in the wild!

ParticipantMarge: I’m not giving up on Bart, just like I didn’t give up on our marriage when you quit your job to start the North American Sumo League.
Bart couldn’t get to school today without both shoes, as noted this picture @ noon.

I worked to the new Metro Station in Reston: “Ticket to Ride” remember the lyric? ‘She don’t care’? Well, I do care and accuracy is very important to me! So, stop, about face for a Day Tripper!

Feed the birds is no good without housing. So I present this house. The bird just left the house.

Participant2/1/2023 – Texas Day
I could write a long, long story of how I didn’t get to ride this morning. I didn’t want to ride tonight, so I stopped in the middle of my journey back from New Jersey and did circles at the Molly Pitcher rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike. 117 miles with 10 mysterious exits.
They must have water, so here is the ginormous water tank on the NJ Turnpike!

Participant1/31/2023 National Backward Day
Today I road a sleaze mile. The circle was Hillcrest, Midvale, Ball, Bellvale, and return to Hillcrest. I passed my brother’s driveway. Look closely at the address sign. The driveway enters the property backwards—thru the backyard. Perfect for backyard day.

Participant1/30/2023 Franklin D Roosevelt
Original name: North Road
Name changed by ordinance on October 26, 1992.
On September 27, 2021, the following information was relayed:
Mr. and Mrs. Newton Jr. had a house constructed on North Road in Boonton Township in 1986. When the 911 service was installed in 1992, the township advised that a name change of North Road was required to avoid confusion with North Glen Road. Mr. and Mrs. Newton, Jr. asked if they could name the road, pending the township’s approval of the new name. The Newton family selected the name “Whispering Pines” to reflect the white pine trees behind their house that had been planted by the CCC in 1933.
The CCC or Citizens Conservation Corp was a work relief program that gave millions employment on environmental projects during the Great Depression. Considered by many to be one of the most successful of Roosevelt’s New Deal programs, the CCC planted more than three billion trees and constructed trails and shelters in more than 800 parks nationwide during its nine years of existence. The CCC helped to shape the modern national and state park systems known today.
Thank you, Dorothy and George Edward Newton, Jr., for providing the history of Whispering Pine Road.
