Sigh, as many of you slept in, I got to ride into work…. If only it was like this everyday.
And…don’t know about you, but I beat the rain. It looks like it may pass by my evening commute time. Lots of win today.

Not too many people have an office with a view like mine.
Are you high enough up in management that you get a key to the restroom in that office?

not only do they use spray paint but I’ve seen some of the dumbest start/end and turn locations ever.
They seem to be spray painting less these days. A few years ago I counted over 75 separate markings between National Airport and Roosevelt Island, including some blue “USAF” markings on the Trollheim bridge steel uprights. I think you can still see the remnants of those. I wonder if some higher ups received some discussion after the Parkway folks had to paint over all that mess.

ParticipantThe answer to your question is “yes”.

ParticipantThanks to emm & cyclingfool. I’m giving a heads up to my son, who rides to Braddock to Metro into work. (I keep telling him it isn’t that much further to ride the whole way in, but nooo, does he listen to me?)

ParticipantMy son & I rode the inaugural Port City Pedals n Pints. The weather was great, the organizers friendly and the other riders were nice folks. And no one crashed, which in my mind makes any organized ride a success. It’s a nice, low key ride, with good beer at the end. I think I’m going to pack my growler for this one.

Given your forum name, shouldn’t that be “pic-a-nic”?

One day, I feel like I should ride into the city on the W&O to see what all this complaining is about. I keep asking the cars to call their passes out here in Fairfax and damn it if all I get is a honk once every few weeks.
All kidding aside, sometimes I swear it sounds like the roads I’m on are safer than some of the trails you all are riding on….
Calling your pass on a MUT is akin to drivers honking as they pass cyclists on the road. Just a bit irritating. Hey, I know you are there, you don’t need to announce it. That said, I do it because so many seem to think it is important.

ParticipantThat’s the Ukraine embassy at 34th & M. Sweden’s is closer to Rock Creek.

If it’s overdoing it then I’d expect it to feel a lot better after two days off. If it still feels like this I’ll probably go to the doctor.
Good decision. If it persists, possibilities to consider are Morton’s Neuroma and peripheral neuropathy. For me, it was the latter. I’ve been dealing with this kind of pain for 5 years now. Stretching helps.

I would like to give a shoutout to the Swedish Embassy driver. Coming off 34th to go across and right onto the sidewalk requires being in the left lane. Cars coming from across the street (albeit it’s maybe every 7th or 8th time there is a car there) rarely yield to let you proceed straight. Actually rarely would be overstatement, they have never yielded until last night when a car with diplomatic tags did. I can only presume it’s from the Swedes with their embassy right there. Good stuff.
That’s my route as well. I have had good success riding directly at the car coming up 34th [edit to remove the following incorrect statement] St. Marys Place (that is the name of the street on the other side of M St.) and pointing to where I am headed to their left side. There have been a few who aggressively force their way onto M, but most seem to deal with my presence nicely. Now the cyclists on the sidewalk who ride through the red light for M St. are another matter.

Participantnosweat: That’s my route into work. I promise to be much kinder than that dufus if our paths cross. I feel I’m a little too new here to be offering this, but welcome to this great community.
