    1/20/21 — Name of a U.S. President. Here’s my bike at President Gerald R. Ford Park in Alexandria. This park is just down the hill from the house where Ford was living in August 1974 when Nixon resigned and Ford became president. There’s a plaque on the back of the park sign, with a prescient quote from Ford’s speech upon being sworn in as president: “I believe that truth is the glue that holds government together, not only our government, but civilization itself.”

    1/19/2021 — Beetle. My original plan was to post a photo of ladybugs depicted in a mural, because ladybugs are a type of beetle. But as I was getting close to finishing up my ride, I realized that I was a little bit short on my decasleaze. So I decided to do an extra lap around the neighborhood to get the extra distance I needed. I turned onto a street I don’t normally turn onto, and there it was — a bright red Beetle.

    According to the Carlyle Council’s website, the tunnel is open 5 am – 10 pm Monday through Friday and 9 am – 7 pm on Saturdays. It’s closed on Sundays and federal holidays.

    I recently heard about the murals at One Loudon. They’re only a few miles off the WOD, so of course I had to go check them out.

    This one is for Sarah Bee:

    The artist calls these “beecycles,” and he’s been incorporating this idea in his art since college.

    1/16/2021 — brewing. My bike at New District Brewing Co. in Arlington. One thing I hadn’t noticed on previous visits: there’s a dog hitch outside for four-legged friends. In my photo, the sign for the dog hitch is partially hidden behind the white trailer, so it appropriately reads “DOG HI.”

    Thanks, Bob. The problem has been entirely with the gaiter company, not with the shipping process. All the shipping has been via UPS, so no delays there.

    I’m not expecting the gaiters until the beginning of February at the earliest. Normal production time for printing the gaiters is 10-14 business days. The company promised to try to expedite this one. But given their track record so far, I’m not holding my breath.

    Here’s my bike visiting the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria. Per the USPTO website: “the USPTO fulfills the mandate of Article I, Section 8, Clause 8, of the Constitution that the legislative branch ‘promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries.'”

    Nope, not a museum — this photo was taken at the “A Place Through Time” timeline-plaque thingy that is at the southeast corner of the Torpedo Factory Art Center. See details here. “Celebration” actually appears three times on the plaque, but the Lafayette one seemed the most appropriate for today’s game.
