And a LFL? I’m confused.

I love that it had braille books. Someone knows their audience. Extra points for the find!

A serendipitous wrong turn took me to this mural painted on the side of an unrelated business (i.e., not a church). In the bottom right hand corner is WWJP. My guess is that it stands for “What Would Jesus Paint?”

Painted in the dark days after the Wal-Mart shooting when people were struggling to understand why this peace-loving, fiercely patriotic, American city was targeted. Gabe Vasquez and Justin Martinez started this the night after the shooting. It has become a favored photo spot and has sparked others to put this sentiment in their artwork.

Participant3/14/2022 Painted Ladies
Well, here in the desert southwest we don’t have a lot of “painted lady” type homes you might be used to. But we have a lot of ladies painted on walls and walls are part of architecture.
So once I decided I was going that route, I had the terrible job of choosing. But I decided to go with Milicent Patrick because she is painted on this wall and she herself painted other ladies (and creatures) in Hollywood. She was born in El Paso and grew up in California where her father worked on San Simeon (the Hearst Castle). She became an actress and make-up artist and was best known for creating the “Creature From the Black Lagoon” … artist Tino Ortega used an iconic photo of Ms. Patrick for the mural.

I have no idea what this building is, but I think it fits the description. Sorry the orientation is off.

My quick evening ride blew all my circuits and although I included it in my strava, I forgot to post here. Pleading my case, Boomer.

Participant3/12/2022 Georgian Architecture
This is a non-starter in El Paso Texas but we have some really bad-ass murals and an amazing Indigenous/Mexican-American art community. (Note: I did NOT bike to this location but I figure if I’m posting something that doesn’t qualify as Georgian architecture, I might as well fail on all levels and share some of the culture at the same time!)

ParticipantI’m probably condemning myself to perdition, but the rules from Day 1 said the photos should be found objects, not things one brings along…

I was on my way to some murals near the house, and then saw this beauty along the way. The murals can wait for another day.
I had a hard time with sun angle, so pardon the quality of the photo.

With all the public art rides I’ve led in Reston, I’ve never seen this! Thanks, Karen!
