Thanks Chris. I am now suddenly starving!
Those pancakes look delish — thin, crispy on the edges from being fried in butter, and dusted with powered sugar. Those are exactly how my grandmother (Polish/German/Ukrainian) made them. Very hard to find a pancake that good here in the US.

3/2/2016Will and I did another round of horse trading after last nights garage spin kickoff. As usual we switched bikes easily. His jake felt livelier than the other I had ridden. We chalked the difference up to the wheels — did I mention that Hans builds nice wheels?
One of the funny things about riding Will’s bikes is that the brake position is reversed. Silly ausie!

The ETT of the 54 Riveter is 18 mm longer than the 53 Liscio. Read those size charts closely, kids.
So let’s see, you have a zero offset seat post and I have a standard setback. That should decrease the reach by a few mm. Swap your 90 stem for an 80 and narrow your bars and you might be right comfy!

N=8, Volagi Viscio. I rode kayakcyndi’s fancy carbon road bike with fancy carbon wheels around Hain’s Point and up Four Mile Run. Fast, nimble, light, and it fits me perfectly.
It’s a Liscio Shawn! And I was a little afraid I might not get it back. You looked quite comfy.

3/1/2016This bike has already been featured here so I’ll expound on the brilliance of this n+1 challenge. Creating the opportunity to ride other people’s bikes is brilliant. As a result of this challenge I can confirm than Hans builds great wheels; that a 54 cm frame is that crucial 1cm too large; that belt drives are quiet, smooth and nifty; that you can have quiet fenders; and that while I love most all bikes I really LOVE mine!

This trail is absolutely awesome, so even if you don’t want to spend $69.25 for an organized ride, make plans to get down there and ride it. It goes through a beautiful area that you could really only enjoy by car before (unless you are the kind of person who could enjoy scenery while riding with cars on Route 5 passed you at 65 mph, which I am not). We rode a good chunk of it last summer when portions weren’t yet completed, and plans exist to return.
Seconded. The trail is great. I’ve ridden it end to end round trip twice now (and yes within days of each other). The first time we started from the Jamestown end and rode to Richmond. Stayed in a cushy hotel (Linden Row), ate in a great restaurant and drank a lot. Rode back the next day. There second time we also started from the Jamestown end, rode to Richmond had a huge second breakfast and drank lots of coffee at River City Diner in a feeble attempt to feel my toes again before we turned around and rode back. Both are great options but just depends how civilized you care to be.

Hi Raymo853!
…. They’re solid. And pretty!
And may I add, quiet! People often complain about metal fenders rattling. These were super quiet. Granted I wasn’t riding gravel or anything but even going over the wood bridge over route 7 I never heard a peep from them.

Mike’s deli wasn’t open for pancakes yet when i arrived so I took Gina’s bike for a spin.
It is easy to see why the Vaya gets such great reviews as a touring bike. It is very smooth and when up to speed just rolls along. Gina’s is set up particularly well for this use with an Ultregra triple crank, lovely couplers, huge tires and fenders too. The upright position I’m sure would make it a great all day ride.
Having a bike like this in your quiver would necessitate some long tours. When do we leave?

Kayakpro …. Oh wait. Wrong sport. How about
Salsa El Mar Ti and no it’s not Will’s. Although it is nearly identical right down to the squealing SLX brakes.
I also don’t ride this bike nearly enough. Last year I raced a few Wednesdays at Wakefield and hit freedom park but not much beyond that. Totally need to step it up since for some silly reason I signed up for a bakers dozen team!

Uhm, yes. Or you could just, gasp, drive to the start!

Noted and the guest room in WB is reserved for you! Not sure we’re riding it this year but we’ll be down there that weekend regardless.

….. although I would love to see more people borrowing other peoples’ bikes. It doesn’t matter too much though, there’s a whole thread full of bike pictures and descriptions, with a handful of bike tech/gear talk – which is a win to me.
Next week I’ll begin riding with a pedal wrench. Who is in for a few Haines point laps???

ParticipantN=9 Shawndread’s cannondale cross bike.
2/21/2016
Traded bikes with Shawn on the way back from our muddy canal ride. Rode this from the top of 41st street to Kindred. I’m amazed at how easily so many of us fit onto each other’s bikes. The cannondale has a slightly longer top tube and stem but otherwise felt good. First aluminum bike I have ridden in awhile. It was pretty comfy and those fenders. We should have traded on the muddy canal! -
