Cyclocross with commuter bags and blinkies. Jason and Matt were on road tires, definitely not recommended. The course is tougher than it looks in the video, there are a couple of super steep climbs by the 14th St bridge.

Silly fun and I still made it to work in time for my 9am conference call. Next task of the day is pedal shopping. Single-sided road SPDs do NOT work for this!

Will 6:45 work? If not 7-7:15 is fine.

Oops just saw that. 6:45 is EARLY! But I could probably be arm-twisted into 7am. Someone pick a time and if there is a W&OD convoy let me know.

    I’m in!

I’d rather just make coffee at home and bring it in a metal mug than go as far as HDCC plus CX laps, otherwise I’ll be running short on time.

I’m with Will. I have a 9am conference call so need to be at my desk (still in bike clothes is fine) by 8:45 at the latest. I’ll bring coffee for between laps. Re: timing. How about leave W&OD near EFC at 6:45 arrive at Gravely CX course at/around 7:15, play in the dirt for 30-40 minutes then sprint to office and recover while on the conference call. Does this sound right?

I’m in, barring any last minute early morning meetings. How about wed morning at gravelly point around 7:15am?

In! Guess I need to switch my tires tonight or tomorrow.

Was MUDDY! Ran into Shawnofthedread at 50 and Annandale. Let’s ride the canal he says from atop his nicely fendered steed. I hesitate all of one minute considering my lack thereof. Oh well, bikes (and people) are meant to get dirty. What better way to start the week.

Passed dickie on the W&OD. Sure looked like he was coming back from work on a Saturday. He must have an awful boss!

My morning commute was on the Tandem Taxi and it was awesome. That things gets some serious respect from cars, cyclists and dogs alike. The peds can still be a little clueless though.

23 degrees when I left the house. Smartwool under WindStopper kept me toasty. Lovely ride:

I wasn’t feeling it this morning either. But I did it anyway and it turned out pretty nice. I need to think about that towpath detour though.

How about tomorrow? I haven’t ridden that way in awhile. Leaving from house at 7:00 am.

On Monday night I was one of the last to leave the blinky give-away and ended up with a few spares of both the red and white lights. I put one of extra of each on the bike and a few in the backpack. Tonight on the way home I passed one very dark rider. I came up next to him and queried, in the nicest way possible, no lights? He said his headlight just got stolen. So the extra blinkies migrated from my bike to his and one of my BA ankle bands went his way too. He was SOOOO grateful.

I’ll have to restock for tomorrow’s ride. Thanks BikeArlington!

Ha! On this morning’s commute in I rode with Rob who happens to have a big cargo bike. We started discussing winter and I suggested just this — snowplow on the cargo. Of course I’m still planning on single-handedly ceasing all snow by getting studded tires for the Ogre.

My little 200 lumen seems about right for the trails:
