How long have you had it? It feels like not very long ago I was watching Volagi’s very first promo video for the Viaje.
I did try the Viaje and Bikenetic, and was very bummed that the fit was all wonky, because it’s so pretty.
First ride was January 5, 2013. To say I’ve had fun with that bike would be the worlds biggest understatement. The fit wasn’t wonky for me at all. Fits me perfectly — not entirely sure what that says about me.

ParticipantYou people are so sensible. My last bike purchase was my Volagi Viaje and I bought it because I wanted it and I could! I had (actually still have) a perfectly fine cross bike but the Viaje was prettier. It had swoopy lines, disc brakes and could fit big fat tires. The all-purpose, take-it-exploring marketing hooked me. I loved the idea of a bike that you could ride everywhere without worrying too much about it.
6500 miles of road riding, commuting, gravel grinding, and touring later, I haven’t regretted that purchase for a single second.
When people ask me about which kayak to buy or if they should buy one I always offer up the same advice. Just go get it. Paddling (or in this case riding) is awesome and you’ll learn by doing more of it. If what you purchased the first time doesn’t work out for some reason, so be it. Sell it and move on. At least you got on the water (or trail) instead of endlessly pondering the options!

ParticipantAs Pete said above, the social ride is ready and he posted the mileage. The route is at:
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4528775
From a social/fun standpoint here is what I’m planning:
1. Meet up with the main group at the start and ride to first 2.1 to Powhatan with them.
a. Either stay put on Powhatan to cheer them on since they go by another 2 times before mile 7.4 or ride some or all of that section with then.
2. Leave them to their antics and head to Heidelberg Bakery for breakfast (via 22nd street).
3. Meet up with them again on Upton (their mile 29.2) (9:35amish). Ride with them from there to the Italian Store (9:45am)
4. Break at the Italian store (or Starbucks) until they return at 10:55am
5. Head to Quantico/Powhatan (See Steve’s post on page 3 regarding the Keg). ETA We should roll through there about 1:40pm.
6. Head to Public House #7 (2:40pm) for a pint before rejoining the fun and games of Barcroft.
7. After Barcroft we’ll need to refuel so I’m thinking Frozen Dairy Bar. Then meeting them at the end for Mt. Daniel (5:35pm)From the looks of it we have a super short ride between Upton and the first stop at the Italian store and then a fairly long break between the second Italian store roll-through (10:55 am) and Quantico (1:40pm). We can, depending on interest, either ride some additional distance with the main pack in Arlington and save our Italian store break until the second roll-through, continue on some route, or just chill.
In all the day will be fluid and fun. If you plan on joining us please PM me and I’ll send my cell phone along to facilitate meet-ups.
Oh, and I’m supply sidewalk chalk, cow bells and a few select hand-ups but if anyone has other things to contribute bring them along!
p.s. If you can only do half the day you can break it down into the start to Steve’s (although if you stop here we might think it is just for the beer). For the afternoon you could start Public House #7 (I can tell you where some very convenient parking can be found if needed) and ending with the main group.

The route stops twice at the Italian Store, easily enough time to shotgun half a pizza.
The social ride has made note of this opportune stop. We’ll be using the Italian Store as lunch stop number one. And yes, there will be more than one.

I can’t join because I am doing a charity run that morning, but I can offer beer. I will have a keg of homebrewed Austral-America Pale Ale available after noon for those Kill Billers who want to stop by. My house is at the corner of Powhatan Street and 11th Road. At mile 68.3, instead of turning right on to Quantico from 11th Road, go straight one more block to Powhatan and it is the house on the upper right hand corner. Just go to the backyard.
Does the offer apply to Kill Bill social riders too?? We’ll stop by and say hello for sure.

Gravelly Point CX laps are there too!

Because the route is quite compact, it is very easy to complete part of the ride. I’ve also heard talk of people setting up party places along the route. Last year rcannon, consularrider and the wonderful folks at Bikenetic all had cheering sections out for us.
And this is where my ride comes in … The Kill Bill Social Ride. 25-35 miles of Food, Fun and Frivolity. We’ll be taking a shorter, flatter route to various locations where we’ll cheer on the peleton. In between we’ll sample Arlington and Falls Church coffee, ice cream, pizza, beer and who knows what else. If you drop out of the main ride, come join ours. I’ll be posting up our route with approximate times for various stops and contact info early next week.

ParticipantOk, I was really hoping that tomorrow might work out but it doesn’t so …. Friday if there are no T-storms? After that I descend into audit hell for a few weeks.
KayakCyndi
ParticipantExcellent. Meet you along the way somewhere.

What time does the train roll through Banneker park?
Usually about 7:00-7:10 am. I haven’t heard if there is a train this week but I’ll be riding and will roll through there at 7. If I’m up early I might head out the W&OD a bit first too.

It was still there around 5:30 yesterday evening. No report from this morning since I took the Custis in.
Still there when I rolled through about 8:30 am this morning. Nice morning to ride the longer way.

Tree down this evening across the Custis, just after the bridge at the top of the s-curve.
Thanks for the heads up. I was watching for it this morning but the poor woman in front of me had no idea it was there and had to come to a screeching halt to avoid impact!

Couldn’t make it due to publication schedule – can we try again soon?
Well .. sure! This week isn’t terribly warm but next week looks promising. Thursdays don’t work for me. What about next Wednesday or Friday? Obviously it will be weather dependent and we’ll make a final determination next week.
