ParticipantHave you heard?? Another polar vortex is headed our way next week and the result will be this:
That sounds like perfect picnic weather! I’m booked on Wednesday but what about Tuesday, Thursday or(and) Friday? Anyone interested and have a preference for day(s)?

Crossed paths with Phatboing briefly on the way home last night.
And I saw him this morning as I was coming around Gravely Point. I’m pretty sure he must have been taking an extended route to work too.

These pics look great–clearly a really fun ride. I wish I had been there with all of you. How did I not know this was going on? Obviously I missed some communication channel.
Like the Bikenetic Facebook Page and you’ll never miss another shop ride! And yes, it was a really, really fun ride!

It was a bit splashy on the towpath this morning.
Hmmm … how about tomorrow?

I ended up taking 3 or 4 days off in a row. Now I think that the quad problem is the result of long hours at work. All that sitting just kills my legs. I’m focusing more on getting some mini-breaks, with leg swings and basic leg drills (running drills but while walking in place). That seems to help.
Today is the halfway point of the Challenge. (It also happens to be the halfway mark of the Tour de France.)
I highly recommend a standing desk. After I pulled my hamstring, sitting was killing me. I decided it was time to stand. Made the Ikea-hack standing desk. That was January and I’m still standing. So much better overall.

…. he got back on the bike and made up a minute on the peloton after falling (despite having [unbeknownst to him] a broken tibia) is badass, and something no amount of Spanish beef can help you do.
…. I wasn’t rooting for Team Sky with Froome at the helm, but now that they’re riding for Richie Porte, I kind of am.
Yep, all of these guys are so totally badass. I can’t believe the amount of suffering of which they seem capable.
Also in total agreement with you on Richie Porte. I’m rooting for him too.

ParticipantAnother great stage today. I think they go up hill faster than I can go down. Those boys are going to relish their rest day tomorrow I’m sure.

But next year, Quintana will focus on the Tour.
I can’t wait!

It was pretty sweet this morning. A little overgrown but quite passable.
Edit – Just sent a note to Arlington Trails for action
When I hit that spot they had stopped all bikes to pull the water barriers out of the river next to the trail. I didn’t have the patience to wait. Oh, and oddly, I think I actually prefer riding through Crystal City now …

ParticipantThat looks very similar to what I carry. I tend to leave my “quick change/make me presentable” kit at work during the week and only carry it home on Fridays to restock or for that occasional need to look presentable on the weekend.

Hmmm … 2014 goals. For some reason I’m a bit stymied on this one but here is what I’ve come up with so far:
Mileage: 6000. I like 500 mile months.
On Bike Goals: Enter a cross race, ride more gravel, and complete at least two centuries.
Off Bike Goals: Get back to paddling by taking one kayak camping trip and maybe throwing in a race or two.Time for a mid-year assessment.
Mileage — On track despite a hamstring set back in January. With this morning’s ride I hit 3000 miles.
On bike goals — Haven’t done a cross race yet but did just spend an hour Googling to see if the 2014-2015 season schedules had been posted yet. I’ve definitely ridden more gravel thanks to Pete, Bikenetic, the Nova Epic and the little jaunt that Liz and I took last weekend. Centuries … haven’t done any of those yet this year. Time to get planning!
Off bike goals — starting to think those might not be necessary although I did go canoe camping so that should count.
Are you on track?

It’s the only way to be.
All this talk about meals is making me hungry. Good thing Elevensies is right around the corner ….
