I’m in. I might try to be there a little earlier.
Greg, they open at 7:30. You can be there earlier but you might not get in!

Lazy Sundae? So pancakes and ice cream, right?
Yep. Can you think of a better way to kick of the week?

Alright, so why dont we just get Bikenetic to open up and serve pancakes!
Actually, Lazy Sundae serves breakfast. They open at 6 am, and sit right at the WOD and Bikenetic. Monday Pancake Club.

Hmmm, triflow sounds like it will be short-lived. What type of bottom bracket? I’ve had rather little luck cleaning bottom brackets that weren’t designed as serviceable. (Cleaning them out isn’t the hard part; it’s repacking the bearings with grease. So they always end up clicking again after a few rides.)
I do have the Enduro bearing press and am happy to lend it to anyone that wants to press new bearings into their external BB cups. This is more straightforward on Shimano external cups. And they don’t last forever either — but I think they get creaky before they get clicky (is that any better, though?). My Enduro bearings are creaking quite a bit now on the commuter — at less than 4k miles.
It is the BB on my Viaje which is BB30. Only thing about the bike that I don’t love! That said, Jan has cleaning and repacking it down to a science and can do it in minutes. I had already planned on taking it to Bikenetic tonight. The tri-flow just kept me from losing my mind this morning!

It was great running into KayakCyndi and doing a Hains Point lap with her this evening… the company and weather were so pleasant that I enjoyed the somewhat… mechanical musical accompaniment provided courtesy of her bottom bracket! :p
Shockingly, this morning I took some q-tips to the BB seals to get some of the junk out and then squirted on some tri-flow. All was nice and quiet after that. We’ll see for how long though. Still may be time for a thorough BB clean-out post monster cross!

I would like to see some pictures from the event, it sounds like it was a fun thing to do. Too bad I don’t 1. Race, 2. Cyclocross.

I’m sure the course could, on occasion, be called fun. Yesterday was not one of those occasions in my opinion. Note the many, many Team Bikenetic Jerseys in these photos. Go team!

That will be a fun shopping trip!

It’s over. On to Amendment 8
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
I think any picture taken on the icy ruts of death on the W&OD in the past two weeks should suffice for cruel and unusual punishment.

ParticipantGot down to Haines Point tonight. Missed seeing PowerfulPete but did have some company:

ParticipantDon’t look now but Richmond is forecast to get somewhere between 2-5 inches of snow tonight and then rain Monday through Thursday. Looks like the mudfest may be unavoidable.

ParticipantI haven’t been on the trails all weekend. How awful will tomorrow be? Are studs called for or just fat gravel tires and caution. Will be on Custis or dc streets (no cycle track) the whole way.

So what is everyone planning on wearing for this? It looks like snow/wintry chances have gone down but it’ll still be wet/muddy.
I have the option of bib shorts + legwarmers, or fleece-lined bib tights but with temps 35-45F, soaking wet rain is not going to feel nice with a roughly 4hr ride time. Wondering if I should get some rain pants to go over my legs. (I’m planning to go with a rain jacket for sure, and probably plastic bags under shoecovers for feet.)
Last night I started to assemble my clothing options. And by assemble I mean put everything I own in a large pile in the middle of the floor! So this is a very timely post and good food for thought.
That said, my bigger dilemma is which bike to ride — Viaje with 40s or just go get the new El Mar Ti good and dirty. Anyone have thoughts?
