That name paints you in to the corner of being a math rock band.

ParticipantBig thanks to Peter for loaning his Torx set to me. I successfully* replaced the battery and back of my Garmin Edge 1000.
*One of the wires that sends power to the speaker became detached from the battery while attaching it to the motherboard. My Garmin no longer chirps at me which is mostly not a problem except for the rare occasions that I’m using navigation.

3 People met their goals. 5 people stuck with it and lost weight throughout the competition. I personally had a strong start but then fell off the wagon. On 3/8 I broke my leg and am officially withdrawing from this aspect of the competition. There were roughly 10 people who expressed interest. I’m hereby awarding $15 Amazon GCs to the the three people who met their goal and $10 to the two others who stuck wiith it the entire competition AND had a net weight loss. I hope that you use it to buy something completely pointless from Amazon such as a shake weight, shocktato game, yodeling pickle, or this completely real facelift hammock and obscene looking lip exerciser(amazon.com).
To claim your gift, email your username and amazon email address to cwaggoner [at] hotmail. I’ll send it out in the next few days.
I want to thank all f you for participating. We had some extremely motivated people this year and it was wonderful to hear that this contest actually helped up their motivation.

Thanks for sponsoring a prize. I hereby request that in lieu of an Amazon card that the money be given to Phoenix Bikes to foster the next generation of Freezing Saddles participants.

I thought that was how you bankrolled the sweet new ride…
I call it “The Bike That Alan’s E-Mail Address Built.”

At the current rate that I’m selling Alan’s e-mail address, I’m just three years from retirement.

ParticipantJust got a 2021 Tern S00. This model has a belt drive and continuously variable shifting. It’s equipped with the front pizza rack, wider running boards in the back, extensions for the kickstand and huge panniers on the back. I’ve put a little over 40 miles on it the past few days.
I’m 6’3″ and it fits me great with several inches of seat post left to spare. The riding position is upright like a Dutch bike which I really like. The pedal assist includes four modes: eco, tour, sport and turbo. It’s a heavy bike. With the power off it rides similar to a CaBi as far as effort. Eco mode provides enough assist to make the effort to speed feel more like my normal commuter. Tour mode makes the effort a bit easier and I don’t see using more than this that frequently. I’ve only used sport and turbo for instances where I wanted to clear an intersection quickly (Crossing Route 1 in traffic, eek!) or on a heavy traffic road (West and East Glebe). Switching between modes is an easy thumb push and the motor shift between modes is smooth.
The bags are really great. The tops can fold in to make them like a bucket or can be stuffed full like a pannier. Tomorrow is the first test of hauling the Surly Bill Trailer that I use for Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail events.

ParticipantGot a good picture of the forum’s own Dewey working with a nice view on Saturday. There’s a few small spots left but volunteers have edged the trail from Trollheim to Humpback Bridge sometimes uncovering a significant amount of trail.
We’ve got several upcoming events to do more edging and also some events to remove foliage causing some of the notorious blind curves on the trail. Sign up at https://MountVernontrail.org/events

Down to 220.4 this week. I did a couple hundred squats doing trail work on Saturday loading buckets with sod we removed and then carrying them.

ParticipantCan you find the Steve O? The MVT is a foot wider thanks to him and the other volunteers today. There’s two volunteer events next Saturday to finish edging work on Columbia Island. See all upcoming events at https://mountvernontrail.org/events

ParticipantI’ve done panniers in the inside of the cart. I like to go to Giant and use their Scan It scanner gun. You can pack your panniers as you shop and then just scan the gun to pay at the end and you’re ready to jump on the bike.
