Agree to disagree. The hole had been pretty effectively blocked with an impressive combination of cones, caution tape, and one of those steel barricades, and I’ve never seen unsupervised kids in 4MR park that weren’t old enough to know how to stay safe around that kind of damage. “could” get hurt, I guess, but the same thing could be said of the 6″ steep drop off the edge of the asphalt trail that remains open there.

Didn’t know they had barricaded off just the hole. This is what it looked like the last time I saw it before the bridge was closed.

I’d guess an engineer looked at it and freaked.

It looks like it got significantly bigger from the first time I saw it since the last time I saw it. There’s lots of kids around this bridge and the hole looks big enough that a kid could get hurt doing kid stuff around it.

Probably who your parents named you after. I put X-Men on the list so I could bike with some adamantium claws on.

I’m officially signed up. Current list of ideas is below. I had made the addition of everyone dressing up as Mr. Happy, to disprove that there is only 1 Mr. Happy.

    Bees
    Minions
    X-Men
    Ghostbusters
    Harry Potter
    Treasure Trolls
    Covid-19
    Superheroes
    Dr Seuss characters
    Sponge Bob Square Pants
    Clowns
    Food
    Workers at Home
    Mr. Happy

Took a peek at this yesterday. It appears that the decking is reinforced concrete with a layer of asphalt. The hole appears to be the result of the rebar rusting out. It doesn’t look like it’s going to be an easy fix. [emoji853]

I used to wear a skull cap when I first started biking a lot. I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t still wear a cycling cap with the brim.

I saw somewhere that you need to bring your own chair. Is that necessary? Picnic blanket for the grass? Bike lock? Thanks for any recommendations.

No chair needed if you get there early enough. I don’t think any of us have locked our bike there ever.

I’ve biked for flights twice. One was a short trip so I just brought a backpack. The other was a two week trip. I used a backpack and strapped a carry on suitcase on the back rack.

No covered bike parking and I’ve heard of a bike being stolen there so I used a crummy bike.

The first time it took me a really long time to find my bike in the return flight. I still have a hard time finding the rack.

I’ve used CaBi home after returning rental cars. When picking up I usually ride my bike on the roads to the front door of the place where the rental desks are. I’d prefer to use the bike rack and access from the trail but biking through the garage doesn’t feel comfortable.

I could use seven more volunteers on Saturday to fix the vegetation issues at the junction of Four Mile Run Trail and the Mount Vernon Trail.

If you e been through recently you e probably had to duck to avoid taking a branch to the face. We will also be fixing the long standing issues with poor sight lines by removing vegetation.

Never been there. Do we have to bring our own refreshments, or is there a bar/food place there?

The grille has multiple beers in can and in draft. It’s also got like hot dogs and chips.

FoMVT cleared the sight line at spot on the trail north of Old Town where the trail splits. I’m super proud of this one. We will be doing similar work this month at Four Mile Run Trail and the Daingerfield Island S-Curve.
