Saw one at REI at Bailey’s Crossroads last week. It’s such as an infrequent repair that it might be worth just popping into a shop for a few minutes and having them wrench it for you.

I got a 58 CM utility bike that is being retired that I’m happy to lend if it’s the right size. Comes with lots of stickers.

Am I reading the same report? What I am seeing is the victim was a pedestrian, not a bike rider.

Walking her bike across the street according to the ARLNow article:

“Reached by phone, Lopez Oxlaj said her mother was walking across the street with her bike, on her way to the nearby 7-Eleven store, when the driver blew through a stop sign at the intersection and struck her.”

I gave to the GoFundMe yesterday for her funeral expenses. When I lived in Arlington Mill I used to see Viviana riding her trike frequently. She usually had her basket filled to the brim.

Massive mud field on Four Mile Run Trail near the switchback to Potomac Yard where the excavation work is occurring. Several inches deep and as slick as potter’s clay.

Couple of mud spots on the Crystal City Connector at both ends of the tunnel as well as in the underpass.

You are amazing. That’s what I was looking for.

The bananas were from Amazon. One of the guys had the Amazon Bananista shirt on today. The event is scaled down a lot from prior years, but still nice to see everyone.

Regarding food, there were bananas today. I expect the bananas are likely from Amazon, as there also was a Community Banana Stand set up a little further south on Crystal Drive.

I was able to attend the meeting. It doesn’t look like it made it on the deck, but the NPS reps indicated that 1C was their preferred concept.

Thank you to everyone who attended the 50th Anniversary for the MVT. Some of the highlights for me:

Barbara Lynch was able to attend and see people celebrating her legacy.

Asking people to raise their hand if they had volunteered or donated and seeing 100 hands go up.

Seeing so many kids at the event.

Having a bald eagle flyover in the middle of the ceremony.

How well attended the event was. We had 200 people registered and a lot of trail users stop in.

    The weather was awesome.

Seeing a bunch of people that I haven’t seen since the pandemic started. Heard several comments that it was like a bicycling family reunion.

Supervisor Storck’s comments about one of his coworkers recalling how the opening of the trail was a life changer for her as a young person because it provided freedom of transportation and mobility.

Someone asked Barbara Lynch if she could have imagined how well the trail is used and she said that in the early days when the trail was less trafficed she would get excited any time that she saw someone using it.

Although I’m the face and chief hype man for FoMVT, this event was the work of a group of volunteers putting in hundreds of hours of work as well as the partnership with NPS.

Giving this a bump. The weather is looking good for Saturday’s celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the first 4.5 mile segment of the Mount Vernon Trail opening. We have 120 people registered so far. The event runs from 10-1 with tables from some of our community partners. Speakers are from 11-11:30.

The documents likely won’t be posted until the meeting occurs. I saw a post on Twitter advertising the meeting which showed one of the lanes on the one way section becoming a bike/ped only lane and the other lane remains by a car lane with sparrows. The loop would also be closed to tour busses (which have been the cause of my worst experiences at HP)

My understanding is that this project is in response to two pedestrians being killed at HP.
