    One of these days I’ll get a chance to try to install the fenders I got from CCrew again. If I fail this time, I will have the bike shop put them on.

    As for shoe covers, I have to decide if I’m ready to take the plunge and get rid of the toe cages and get real bike shoes/pedals. I’ve resisted so far, but the cages kind of suck.

    I really like the look of the Showers Pass pants on their website. Have any of you used the pants, or just the jackets?

    Not cheap is okay – if it works and lasts, it’s cheap in the long run.

    I would be interested. My wife is leaving me with the kids for the weekend next Friday, so I’ll have no trouble negotiating a happy hour.

    The closer to DC, the better, as far as I’m concerned.

    Dear gentleman riding the wrong way down Harvard St NW at 9pm without any light whatsoever –

    I’d prefer not to run you over next time I have to drive. Please use 1) A light and 2) Either one block north or one block south, both of which go in the direction you want.

    Have you tried Rain-X? It works for car windshields.

    My favorite was riding home from our CSA pickup with a watermelon, a cantaloupe, and a bunch of smaller stuff in my bag. 15th by Meridian Hill Park was AWESOME that day.

    Oh, I forgot the full moon. I never believed in that hooey until my old boss at Subway in high school kept pointing out how weird customers got when it was full. That would explain it.

    You’ll never make everyone happy. Sounds like you go out of your way to be a good trail user. I wouldn’t pay much attention to the crazies.

    The Rock Creek Trail was busy today. This is spectacular weather for biking (though I have a much shorter ride than most of you, even if I go the scenic route like today).

    Virginia has this silly “I know you already paid sales tax on your depreciating asset, but you should probably pay some more” tax on cars. I suspect that’s what Ms. Angrypants is yelling at Dirt about.

    It is mostly due to the fact that the signal timing is off, making the bike lanes painfully slow. Independence is timed reasonably well, and from point A to B, it can make up to a ten minute difference. Also, crazy U turn drivers.

    Funny that they retimed the lights just after we had this conversation. Heading from 7th towards the White House, then on up 15th has gotten a lot more annoying because of some small changes to the timing. Maybe I’ll start doing Independence and 14th, too.

    Also, Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham is totally ignoring my emails. I’m not sure what the problem is. Maybe I’ve been blackballed after getting annoyed with incompetent DDOT work a few months ago.

    I didn’t have any problems on my renewal date, though I’m not sure I tried to use it that day. I did just have to request a new key because my awesome black one is going to split in half any day now.

    @CCrew – I think I’m okay on roads, but most of my road experience is downtown, not out on more rural roads. I guess I’ll have to try.

    @americancyclo
    – I had forgotten about mapmyride. Now i just need to put their mobile app back on my phone

    @Dirt
    – Potomac Pedalers looks good – I can’t imagine it will hurt to be a member of another local bike organization.

    Is Love Point Road bikeable? If not, it looks like I can get to that trail on back roads, at least according to Google Maps.
