ParticipantI have not participated in this thread in some time, so I figured I would change that. Picking up some Christmas gin from Green Hat.

ParticipantI bought the rack on my bike for the explicit purpose of bringing a pie to a Bike Arlington blinkey light handout. The original thread talking about it is here somewhere. I used ImaCynic’s technique and the pie not only made it from my house into work but all the way out the MVT/4MR from DC to Columbia Pike with no incident. Just need a few bungee cords or similar to hold the container in place. I didn’t even use the high-friction mat but that sounds like a great idea.

Are we getting the Cabal back together?
If you have to ask, you can’t be in the Cabal

ParticipantI think the Google Maps bike directions from Union Station to Silver Spring Station are pretty solid. I like 8th better than 5th because it’s a little less up and down. 5th seems like there’s a valley around every stop sign so you never have any momentum (the first summer we had the cargo bike for the kids I was doing this route every day and strongly preferred 8th).

ParticipantI haven’t even been able to begin to process this. On one hand I feel like I barely knew him, and on the other he undoubtedly made me a better person. Every singe time I’ve had what could have been a bad interaction with an inattentive driver but instead turned out well, it’s been because I was able to channel Pete’s positive vibes. I hear his voice in my head ALL THE TIME when I’m riding my bike, and every time it nudges me in a better direction.
I’m stuck on my fixie this week while my Bianchi is in the shop and coming home from a work errand, I rode it up the biggest hill in the neighborhood in Pete’s honor.
This photo he took after a 2015 Friday Coffee Club is particularly hard but I’m really glad I have it.

ParticipantI think I came across the Bridge Club at almost exactly the moment you were typing this post. I have another browser window open to the frame geometry right now

ParticipantThere are some days when the thought of riding my bike does not spark joy. I usually don’t ride those days.

ParticipantI was just going to say “I built a quick website for a podcast that the kids did a while back” but then I see the site is offline so I can’t show it to you. I don’t have a ton of time to help but would be willing to pitch in some website help if you want. I can also give advice on how to get kids to bike to breweries in crummy weather.

ParticipantThis is typical Bowser. No one even knows that any road in DC that doesn’t have a speed limit sign is 25 mph, and even fewer people will know that this has changed to 20. THEN subtract out the people who don’t care, and this will affect the driving of fewer than 5 people. And those 5 were already super careful drivers to begin with, and unlikely to cause a crash.
Without infrastructure changes, which she steadfastly refuses to allow, this is just a press release, as usual.

ParticipantThe code is all open source – https://github.com/freezingsaddles and you’re more than welcome to adapt it for your use. Instructions for getting an environment set up are here. You just need a good Python programmer or two.

So, I guess still nothing about rescheduling or Zooming the end of season celebration?
I see some posts about a coffee/hiking club or something posted today, but I guess that’s nothing official. Just hoping I’m not missing anything if I use this last hour to ride.
No plans to reschedule yet. I think we’re waiting until we’re sure we’re allowed to gather again before we pick a day.
