In this game I don’t believe there’s a bonus for being first. As long as your picture is posted on the correct day, it counts just as much as everyone else’s. If it’s awesome, and a lot of people like it, it earns more. So go for awesomeness rather than alacrity.
Yesterday and today’s tasks have had a 5 point bonus for having the longest word, with the earliest submission being deemed the winner. When “celebration”, “crenelation”, “intolerance”, and “nondirected” are the only four subanagrams of “Benedict Arnold” (at least according to the tool I used) of length 11, longer than any others, speed matters — someone’s going to get one of those, so you’d better do it fast. There is something to be said for providing good content and getting more likes though (or just hiring ELITE/like farms).

Noob question – got a Garmin for Christmas…how do you set it up to repport the weather on your rides, especially when linked to Strava? Mostly just interested, I generally wimp out if it’s < 37-38 degrees. Thanks...
I’m not 100% sure what exactly you’re asking — if it’s related to the Garmin itself, I’m not sure. I have a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt that has a thermometer, and so logs temperature. Strava, as of April 2020, includes weather data for activities for premium subscribers. There are free apps that do similar things, such as Klimat (which I believe has free and premium tiers). This thread is about Freeze Points, which use Dark Sky as the source for weather data (previously Weather Underground). All the other FS weather/temp-related things also work in a similar way I believe. Hopefully this answers your question.

ParticipantThis mural is painted on the side of 2630 South St, Philadelphia 19146. The bike in it caught my eye (but the real bike in frame is not actually my bike either). It greets you as you come into the Grad Hospital neighborhood after you’ve crossed the South St. Bridge over the Schuylkill.

1/14/21 – “Benedict Arnold” Anagram Word (5 or more letters, can’t be handwritten or on/in something portable)
Looks like bigredboiler’s claimed (one of the) longest word(s), so I’ll go with something more topical: a Philly ballot drop-off box. It’s bolted to the ground, it’s not portable.

First bullet point includes “Counterfeiting, forging, tampering with, or destroying ballots is a second-degree misdemeanor pursuant to sections 1816 and 1817 of the Pennsylvania Election Code”. Eight letters! Larger image hereSide note: I need to start staying up later so I can plan these out the day before, not morning of.

#FSWORMHOLE MOOREBETTER
This is in Loudoun County and is another way to get back from the area near Dulles Town Center to Sterling and then to Herndon. Unlike the Choolaah Connection Wormhole which is good but through areas with heavy traffic, this one goes through a lovely, bucolic park that is worth exploring off road as well. (In fact, the remainder of Vestals Gap road, a pre-Colonial road, is in this park). That is why I’ve called it “MooreBetter”.
This one is clutch! My dad showed it to me back in the day, it’s pretty helpful for getting from the “western” W&OD to my parents’ place (in Sterling). Rider beware that the part by Park View High School has a gate that’s sometimes closed and locked (I think just at night, but I’m not sure). Climbing over a tall fence with a bike is not recommended, I cut up my thigh pretty good one time getting over it.

“Tailors” is what I have for now — 7 letters. No point in doubling up on a “memorial” or “memorials”.

I’ve put in an order for a new billboard off 76 by CHOP — “THIMEROSAL KILLS” — I figure they’ll appreciate anti-vax sentiment over there. Once that goes through, I’ll take the victory.josh

I see that a few rides do now show up for some other riders but not mine. What hashtag should I be using?
Leaderboard claims
Quote:#dirtybiker or #DirtyBikerFS20(although the devs are trying to discourage the use of years in the hashtags because of the increased maintenance incurred, although if sponsors come and go it might be problematic anyways). While the Strava premium hashtags/statmaps work in both activity title and description, the BAFS leaderboard implementation does not — it just uses the titles.

This should probably be indicated more explicitly considering it’s come up multiple times (or we could change the implementation, but considering I’m not actually helping with that I’m reluctant to make that recommendation).josh
ParticipantSarahBee, let me know if this falls into any of your categories. It’s not art and it’s not natural, but perhaps you could call it atmospheric?

Here’s the Negro Leagues Memorial — it’s located by the field a number of teams, including the Philadelphia Stars, played at during the 30s and 40s. The player’s holding a baseball bat.

Hi everyone, someone pinged me to see if I could help her to post pictures to this thread via an Android/Chrome phone. Unfortunately, I am an iPhone user, so I’m not sure how to advise her.
On the iPhone, I find it easiest to use the Tapatalk app (I have the paid version). Are Android phone geeks using the app also, or do you have another easier/preferred method?
I’ve never tried using Tapatalk — on my Android phone, I’ve just used mobile Chrome to navigate the forum and post things. AFAIK, there’s no mobile version of the website, so you just have a very unwieldy UI, and attaching images is basically the same as on a desktop, it just requires lots of zooming in to press small buttons. I will say that I generally use a browser on my laptop to write things/post images if possible, it’s just nicer with a larger screen and real keyboard (but what isn’t?). It might be worth a try?
The process looks something like this (very similar to the desktop UX):

Press the “Insert Image” button
Press “Choose file” (then get sent to file browser or photos app or whatever)
Select the image, then get sent back to the modal window you saw before, press “Upload file(s)”Once the upload is complete, you’ll see some markup added, and so the body of your post will look something like this:
Quote:This is my pretend post.
<-- this won't actually have that forward slash, I just couldn't figure out how to escape whatever triggers the tag parsing in a better way
More text can go hereThat’ll insert the image at the location indicated by that tag in your post. Don’t delete it!
Add whatever else to your post and then submit it.
