ParticipantWow this is amazing this turned into a discussion about ebikes! Apparently I don’t own a ” real” ebike though so I won’t comment.
It’s pretty cool, though that I can pedal my “moped” close to 30mph with no electric assist, though.

ParticipantHow is it possible to not know this fell off your bike?

Good on you for being nice. I find it strange enough when I encounter a park maintenance or park ranger vehicle on the trail, but I’ve never encountered a random driver on it! I’d probably recommend giving him an escort back to the road so that he maintains a safe speed and other people know what’s going on (I would make him put his hazards on).
I think that’s a good spot (Maple/W&OD) for a flexpost bollard. There is clearly confusion for people wanting to turn into the Whole Foods, and most of the time the light is red, so cyclists will be slowing/stopping there anyways.
P.S. – While I can recognize the low rumbling sound from having the camera so close to the wheel, I must admit it does sound like a gas motor (but I know it’s an e-bike so no worries).
P.P.S. – I believe this should be on a thread titled “Another Another car on the W&OD”
The GoPro mounted on the front fork picks up a low rumbling sound from the ground, but you only hear that if the motor is off. when the motor is on you hear a light whining noise, that again the gopro picks up and amplifies it. The camera being low to the ground gives the illusion that I’m going fast, but im not.
Since we are on the topic now, my pet peeve is drivers who yell at my to get off the road, and then when I ride on a muilti use trail I get yelled to get off… so where do you all want me to go? what route can I take that will make everyone happy? I opey all trail rules and ride responsibly, getting to work without burning any gas or paying for parking. I’m not going to stop doing this anytime soon, FYI… Bike path is safer sometimes than the road.

Um, no….. your vehicle is not an “ebike” – it is illegal on the bike paths. Please do not ride it on the bike paths.
um, what makes you think that? by the way, I fixed the video so you can’t hear that annoying road noise that the gopro picks up.
Are you guys serious? I was going like 5mph. On a bike that is speed limited to 20mph. how is this illegal, exactly?

Why are you riding a motorcycle on the bike path?
LOL, yes I know you hate ebikes. Start another thread if you want to have a flame war because this is off topic.

ParticipantI saw this today, California plates. I’m giving him a pass because this is a confusing intersection, and he was driving slow. But maybe I’m being too nice…

Can you post one of those where everything goes perfectly? I’m trying to convince my better half to commute up L and the videos of woe aren’t helping things… maybe under a separate thread entitled “How the Perfectly Safe and Sane L-street cycletrack changed my life for the better while saving me $300/month in parking”
I’ve been trying to get a video where everything goes perfect, but it hasn’t happened yet. 99% of my commute is on separated bike/ped infrastructure, it’s just these last couple of miles that gets interesting.

ParticipantHere is my L street experience this morning. I always tell myself that every car is about to hit me. But, that makes life exciting right?

ParticipantI got the package, funny that the instructions on the patch kit says:
step 1. Find hole in tube. That Ba*&#rd!LOL.

ParticipantMy goal was to ride to work every day this year. So far I’ve driven only once because I wanted a rest day before the ex2 off road half marathon.
So far I’ve ridden about 3200 commuting miles and now my ebike odometer just passed 10k miles.

ParticipantI’m thinking about getting a schlumpf drive. Has anyone here used one and what do you think?
jnva
ParticipantHmm, I haven’t had any problems with still photos. Seems like a normal view to me, not fish eye. You can change the setting I think. I really like my gopro.

ParticipantI have the silver gopro. I’m not good at video editing, but you will learn. I can use the free iPhone app as a remote, it works but my opinion is its not needed for biking since you can easily hit the button manually. Sometimes I wish I had the higher frame rate to make better slow motion videos, but 30fps seems good to me.
Personally I don’t like watching helmet mounted videos, it’s funner to watch when the camera is lower, especially if you can see the wheel moving. I mount mine on the front shock.

ParticipantI can meet up somewhere downtown at lunch time. My bike is not as nice as a stromer, though.

ParticipantMe: cyclist doing 30mph down the hill on Virginia lane towards Shreve rd. if anyone rides wod from vienna to falls church you know that this is where the path is nothing but a sidewalk that is kind of risky to ride downhill on.
You: big dude in huge SUV passing me across the double yellow and telling at me.
Well, of course I caught up with this idiot and exchanged “words”. He was adamant that I should not be on the road. I just don’t get how people can be so selfish and stupid. Unfortunately I forgot to turn on my camera, or else this guy would have been featured on YouTube.
