ParticipantMore than one ride per day is fine. Just counting total miles during FS.

ParticipantI’m pleased to announce the winners of the singlespeed competition. May the following singlespeeders please step up to the podium:
- Pete 🦥 Czapiewski (78 rides; 1343.7 miles)
- glenn ☀️ √glenn (78 rides; 1202.2 miles)
- Pedja Gudac (44 rides)
It was a tight contest, coming down to the mileage tiebreaker for first place. Congratulations to the winners, and to all the participants. It takes a brave and hearty sole to forgo the derailleur in midwinter, with the just deserts of true cycling enlightenment.
Message me on the forum to arrange for the receipt of your fabulous prizes.

ParticipantWas feeling lazy today so I rode a bike with 11 extra gears on the Laurel Hill trails. And then I got smoked by someone blowing past me on a singlespeed. Serves me right for riding a bike with extraneous gears.

ParticipantGood point! This year’s freeze thaw cycle has been frustrating. The trails don’t stay frozen long enough.

ParticipantHaven’t posted in a while, so just checking in with the singlespeeders. It’s a tight race for first place, tied with 36 rides each and only 14 miles separating the two for the tiebreaker (https://freezingsaddles.org/pointless/hashtag/singlespeed). Very impressive stats at the top of the leaderboard. And I’m nowhere near the top, lol. My singlespeed adventures are usually dirt-centric, and the mud takes a while to dry out this time of year.
Keep on riding. I’m impressed that we have 14 participants. Long live singlespeed!

ParticipantTo my surprise, more than one person seems interested in singlespeed. We even have a few people riding singlespeed every day. Given the fabulosity of the prizes at stake, it occurs to me that we may need a tiebreaker rule.
By the power vested in me as sponsor of this PP, I hereby declare that in the event of a number-of-rides tie, the singlespeeder with the most miles shall prevail. And don’t forget–only one ride per day counts.
Happy singlespeeding!

Offering not just CBD, but THC as well for vaping. More of a stoner vibe than my last post.
Somehow my strava didn’t restart after taking this picture, so it cost me 8 miles worth of points. Oh well, the joy of riding is more important than points, right?

Dual squishy single speeds are fun as well.

I’ve never seen a full squish singlespeed. Does it bounce too much when you have to mash up a hill?

Waaaaaaaaaaay back when, I used to lead fixie mountain bike rides at the Frederick Watershed. I’m too old and a lot wiser to do that anymore… unless there’s interest?

Maybe I’ll try it just for fun. I have a surly hub on my rear wheel that can easily be converted to fixed.

Haha. Says the person who doesn’t smoke weed!!
Back in the 90s, there were several shops in Pacific Beach, CA that labeled their bongs as “tobacco water pipes.” They even had a sign saying they were for tobacco use only. Not sure if it was a joke or an attempt to get around a law against selling drug paraphernalia.

My favorite singlespeed spot. All the people riding full squish geared bikes on the trail today are missing out. Fully rigid singlespeed is just more fun here.
