An interactive memorial for the godfather of go-go. Not certain if the motion sensors still work, but the site is cool. From the project site:
“The sculpture consists of three abstract representations; one of Mr. Brown and two dancers. The three pieces are located within two circular areas (a stage and a dance floor respectively) that are enclosed by short bench walls. The overall piece is interactive and allows the visitor to experience the go-go “call and response” through LED lights that are activated through motion pads and/or motion sensors throughout the piece.”Indiana

It’s a really cute one with a flower pot on top and stained glass books decorating the inside. Several Stephen King novels, a few text books. Could definitely use some books for older children. I borrowed the book about that rogue panda that Eats, Shoots & Leaves to show a punctuation-phobic family member. I’ll have to restock next time. The bag underneath has a note from someone giving away free cloth masks that they sewed! There are individually wrapped masks inside.

I borrowed a relaxing rainforest sounds CD for my daughter. There’s some environmental policy books and adult fiction. Needs kids books!

Well stocked little Free Library at 13th and Newton Streets NE DC. Generally full enough that it’s hard for us to add in new books, though one time I saw someone drive up and nearly empty it without even looking at the titles.

This Little Free Library in 1500 block of Newton St NE is super cute, with it’s own mini bird house, and very well stocked. Second LFL visit with my 10 year old (hers is the purple bike), who reminded me that one time she got a cross stich crafting book here, and was shocked to find out that every design had a swear words in it! Subversive cross stich! She brought that one right back.

This library needs more: kids books right now especially middle gradesWe’ve added kids books there over the last couple years and have noticed a pretty high turnover. Current selection is great for parents-to-be (baby name books and baby care and board books) as well as women wanting to “Lean In” to the workplace. Generally a pretty eclectic and interesting selection to be found.
Thanks for this contest! Last year my book- and bike-loving kid and I got FS cycling motivation sitting LFLs and thought it would make a fun category to track!

Happy New Year! This is the mama bear to MBear who convinced our family to sign up for freezing saddles again this year. We’re hoping there will be lots of kids up on the kids leaderboard to give more incentive for family rides. Last year was a neck and neck competition for first and second place, decided by the very last ride on the final competition date.
Happy and safe biking, everyone!
PS MBear may be changing her name to an animal with more spots…
