ParticipantI’m frustrated as hell. I can’t commute right now because of the trail conditions. I could possibly make it to DC going worththeweb’s route, but then going up the Capital Crescent is also a pain when it’s not cleared very well. Not being able to get in my miles has made me a serious grumpus. Getting home and piddling around in Old Town isn’t really doing it for me.
grrrrrrr.

ParticipantWeird, but I was under the impression that the W&OD was clear. I assume this meant from the trailhead in Shirlington. I was going to ride out today, but when I got there it wasn’t clear at all. Then I rode up to where it starts where it crosses Columbia Pike. Also completely impassable (road bike).
Where exactly is the W&OD cleared? And how can I get there from Alexandria!
I ended up riding around lost somewhere past the Pentagon. I ended up on 27. That wasn’t a very smart move. It’s a highway.

Bi-polar Bears. – I am happy to see the Bipolar Bears move into third place ahead of the Not Named team. Regardless we got to be aware they are aiming to overtake us.
Of course we are aiming to overtake you! It’s a competition isn’t it? BE AFRAID!!! WE ARE COMING FOR YOU (as soon as the roads and trails are clear…)!!!

OMG!! We’ve moved up to 7th place!!! Go Bears!!!!
We’re really doing great this week! We’ll get ahead of those Bollard Busters (and stay there) before you know it. For some reason, I’ve been feeling like they are the team for us to beat.
This weekend is going to shake things up, weather is supposed to be good, and I expect a lot of miles and upsets on the leaderboards.
Vern, you’ve been riding sick miles this week. You’re a rockstar!

ParticipantFreezing saddles makes me want to be a better man…
I’m with you guys. I’m obsessively checking the leaderboards, refresh, refresh. As far as convincing me to go out and ride more, I’m a success story. This January I rode more miles in a single month than I have EVER. My weekly mileage for the last 3 weeks has been double my normal miles/week. I’m over 600 miles so far, and there’s still a month to go. Last years total mileage (since I didn’t start riding until March/April) was 2500. By the end of FS, I expect to have more than a thousand!
It has truly inspired me. I’m a newbie here and this is my first year of FS, but my team, though we’re bringing up the rear is full of great people, and some of the others I’ve met are just awesome.
As far as I’m concerned BAFS on the brain is a good thing. Thank you BA forum for everything!

ParticipantThis morning around 7 am. MVT airport bridges were coated in ice and slick. Rest of the trail fine.
14th St. Bridge, clear and dry
Capital crescent from G-town to Bethesda was coated in lots of patches of crunchy ice, be careful and go slow. I would say the majority of the ride up was slick, but I managed on my 25 slicks just by keeping a steady pace. Saw plenty of people heading southbound at paces that were concerning, so maybe I’m just a big chicken -
