ParticipantI didn’t see it mentioned elsewhere in this thread. I keep noticing though that for me, I’m always off by one ride. By that I mean, my ride from a given morning doesn’t seem to get added to my stats on the FS site until after I do my evening commute home. Then that ride won’t show up until after I complete my next ride the following day.
Is this expected behavior?

ParticipantActually I got an email from Spokes yesterday and they are having a %50 Off sale on lots of clothing including some Gore and Endura winter jackets. For example: http://spokesetc.com/product/gore-bike-wear-power-trail-windstopper-soft-shell-thermo-jacket-237097-1.htm
I think this is a great deal for this jacket. Also, in my experience, the Spokes Etc location in Vienna seems to have the most stock in hand. Good luck finding something that works.

Team 3 – You are proving quite worthy adversaries of Team 13 for the title of 2016 Hains Point champions. In an effort to keep our friends close and our enemies closer, I am proposing a joint Team 3 and Team 13 happy hour on Thursday. I can guarantee at least my attendance.
Great plan Judd! You go distract them while I go to Hains pt Thursday night a ride laps!

ParticipantNo!!!!! You’re leaving us?? This is entirely unacceptable!
Who is going to keep pushing those miles in all this bad weather while I’m snowbound in Alexandria! Besides Teresa of course.
I’m sorry to see you go of course and wish you many successes in your future endeavors.

ParticipantMy toes hurt and I had an icicle. Need more windproof clothing and winter boots.

Yes, there was. Or was it in Del Ray? There was a holiday coffee club there once, too. I forget which holiday.
Also, there should probably be a consensus on whether or not to move the usual MMPC (I think some people are planning to show up at Mike’s aroundrather than have us split among different places.

Oh no! Monday morning is pancakes at Mike’s Deli @ 730.
I’m not trying to step on toes of course, perhaps last winter MMPC hadn’t become a thing yet. I wasn’t sure how last years coffee at best buns happened or who did it. I can’t make the trek out to Mike’s, I won’t have the time. If everyone would rather do that, I’m cool with it. However, I will say, I am going to go to Best Buns tomorrow morning for coffee since it works my schedule a bit better, if anyone wants to join me there that’s great
Timing? I will be there around 8am, I can probably hang around to about 9 or shortly thereafter. It can be a rolling thing, I’m always the early shift, KWL can be the late shift!

Great riding and imbibing with LeprosyStudyGroup and Teresa A today in the Unholy Alliance ride!
A shout out to everyone – your riding has gotten us into 5th place as of this evening.
As we continue to rise in the ranks (as should be the case for the fastest awesomest team that we are), please remember to try to at least sleaze every day. That gets us key points in the standings.
You have no idea how much I wish I had more time for weekend tomfoolery. I’m jealous. I can give solid weekday miles, but I fall behind on the weekends. SO glad we have some awesome weekend rollers on our team! Was our official team name ever decided?

Bible verse?
Romans 13:13Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.
I kind of like the alternative to daytime walking honestly.

10am ride from Arlington tomorrow should work for me.
A few random team name ideas to get us started:
– Iced nonfat ride a lot, eh?
– Abominable snowpeople
– Not done YetiTeam name? Glacial Pacers.
I won’t be able to make the 10:00 am ride tomorrow. But I was granted permission for a late afternoon ride so I will go out and get a few miles. Sorry PP, the weekends are harder for me since the arrival of terror baby. I will keep plugging along and find a Saturday to join in.

ParticipantI will be attending. See you there.
ian74
ParticipantI’ll be there too, just doing my own thing. I don’t try to hang with no peloton, I’m just going to put some Freezing Saddles mileage in the books.

But, nothing I’ve used works better than grocery store plastic bags with rings of tape applied on both ends of the cleat and around the ankle. It’s definitely not a glamour look, but my feet, socks and shoes were perfectly dry (but for some sweat) when I got to work this morning.
Next time you get all gussied up in your shoe bags please take a pic and post them so I can see how the master does it. I’m here shoving newspapers into my shoes and I know they’re still going to be wet for the ride home.

The survey, the discussion…. Just too funny. Hilarious. I can’t stop laughing and take this vote seriously.
It’s one thing if you legitimately want to participate, but if you’re just trolling or doing this for the LOLs it’s kind of sad and disappointing.

I have kind of like the idea of the winter riding I do anyway “counting” towards something. So, it looks like I could sign up for BAFS and continue doing the riding I regularly do – commuting and one weekly fun ride – and perhaps not join in on other rides (although the occasional happy hour) because I already ride about as often as I can now. However, I have a dumb phone and no GPS device nor really want them (yes, I know I sound like a curmudgeonly Luddite). Can I enter the rides in strava manually and still do this? (which I think means I cannot do any of the time or location challenges since it looks like the strava manual entry is simply length of ride and comments (no real start and stop time or location, unless in comments)). Does it make sense for me to join in under these conditions?
Yes! You can enter the rides manually in Strava. I believe you can also enter ride duration. One of my teammates last year, wheels&wings, did just that. I say join!
