ParticipantNever mind, didn’t realize that the segment was so short- IMO they really need to cap segments at .25 miles to avoid the data problems (I’d also be a fan of killing net downhill segments but that’s a totally different topic)

ParticipantOpen a support ticket- they will unflag it.
A friend from San Fran told me that there is an anti-strava movement where the main tactic is to flag ever route in sight. Could be something similar here.

That’s not really enough information for me to help. The internal headsets all have specific standard sizes. How old is the bike? I’m guessing the steer tube is 1.125″ (1 1/8″).
The Google gave me this: http://www.shopping.com/fsa-headset-1-18/wQeJiLfhTGgSxgAygKt47g==/info
Oops, sorry 1 1/8″- my google-fu failed me but that looks like the right product. Perhaps TBSFKAC (Fresh…) as a C’dale dealer will have one?
For the my edu-macation, what describes a headset spec outside of type and diameter? The Dirt-supplied link gives this: “45×45 Campagnolo / Cannondale) Orbit C FSA headset, 1 1/8, integrated” I’m cool with the brand and diameter and type (integrated) but have no idea what “Orbit C” and “45×45” stand for.

I regularly take the Capital Crescent Trail on my Takoma to Arlington commute. Many moons ago when I first asked advice on here about routes someone mentioned and showed a picture of a fabled crossing between Chain Bridge and CCT that avoided that rocky, bumpy towpath.
Today, I present, that fabled path.
Cheers! That looked CX worthy right up until you turned around! Yikes, hike-a-bike for sure! The fact that there is no clean link between the excellent bike infrastructure of North Arlington and the excellent infrastructure of the CapC has always surprised me. Short of heading all the way down Custis to Key then battling up M and down to Water there really isn’t a good link anywhere. Does anyone know if there as any long term plan to join the systems?

My son drafting my wife on a family ride, how does one convince a teen that spandex is cool?
We need a family team kit.The mean answer is to go for a long ride in the rain…
Of course then you have a teen that hates riding AND can’t sit down

Let’s hope they do a better job than Edinburgh did with Princes Street!
If ever there was an argument for a fat-tire bike…

What time will you be coming through DC? M Street before 8am is pretty solid as you have the far right lane to yourself much all of the way (and it’s downhill). You take that to Washington Circle, then take Pennsylvania Ave. to the White House. At that point you can get on the cycle track on New York Ave. and head toward Union Station.
Not sure yet- right now I do dawn patrol (leave before 6, if doing CX, before 5…). I like early to early hours (7ish-4ish), it works well with other life patterns but a 7 mile commute, be it by car, bike or METRO is soooo much shorter than my current hell commute that I’ll have at least an hour extra per day to play with… Downside is the likelihood of frequent international travel (which is an upside until working spouse and little kids enter the picture)

I go through Clarendon on my way to the Union Station area, so I could help. Do you prefer trails or roads? Do you care about car traffic or do you like to avoid it?
I usually go down Key Blvd. to left on Veitch and cross to the Custis. Then I either take the Roosevelt and cross over to the Penn. Ave. lanes or the Memorial and go straight down the Mall. Sometimes from the Roosevelt I go up to the L St. cycle track just for a change of pace. That might work for you since you’d be up at G St.
After 3 years dodging Loundon County high speed traffic I’m pretty fearless (or resigned…)- just looking for the most fun route (assuming Custis to Key, Memorial or 14th st bridges).

Ignoring the pejorative characterization
Wow. Chill. The quoted statement was a rehash of the typical free-rider reaction to anything– i.e. that it is irrational and visceral.
There is posolutely an element of the free-rider problem here and you looking for expanded scope of the current problem based on future tech developments is exactly the sort of reaction that drivers have over bike infrastruture development. Guess what, regulations develop in response to development, rarely the other way around. Right now, given current tech ebikes are not a problem if/when they become a problem hopefully there will be a community-informed regulatory process that results in something like “no ebike over x hp is allowed on MUTs”.
For the record, I really don’t have any skin in this game and I’m done here.

ParticipantI’m pretty sure that the free-rider analysis of the car/bike relationship has been posted before:
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20130212-why-you-really-hate-cyclists
Reading this thread I have to think that something similar is going on with ebikes vs bikes- irrational and visceral reaction to the unencumbered use of a shared resource.
Discuss.

ParticipantNot nearly as cool but you can at least see that I had a delightfully dirty commute…

Beautiful morning! I Vine’d it: https://vine.co/v/bF3rv7vgF0b
Huh, that’s a new one (for me) the app looks pretty cool but do you have to whip out your phone to shoot the segments (while riding…) or can you upload a video file from say a contour?

I do balance out all the ELITE-ness of my Rapha knickers by wearing ratty old paint-stained tshirts and cotton knickers with holes in the rear on my daily commute. However, I suppose that may be Hobo Elite
Sorry, that’s Hipster ELITE. Time to peel some gears and brakes off your bike.

Especially such an ELITE brand?
An Italian brand! I shudder to think what I would look like in a Italian size small, only way it could be worse would be if it were a Lululemon line (tight AND seethrough)

Was only able to buy those (the CX model) because they were on sale on the site (50% off) and because they had a size “S”. I really should be wearing a size “M”
Oh, no, it’s waaay more ELITE to wear your knickers a size small!
