ParticipantRiding in mist is certainly not my favorite and there was plenty of that, and showers, headed east on the W&OD and Custis.
I got blinded by someone on the Custis who legitimately looked like they had three or four lights. What looked to be a Lumos style helmet, definitely a light or two on the bars and one other somewhere else. It all blended into an wall of light so bright I couldn’t even make out the shape of the cyclist behind them and had a hard time seeing another cyclist right behind them once I passed. I know this isn’t a new complaint but this was particularly egregious.

ParticipantMy morning commute is at the same time as everyone’s, or at least most of everyone’s, evening commute thanks to working nights.
First time commuting in a few weeks after getting a new bike built up. Seriously the most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden. I got passed by an electric scooter and an e-bike on the W&OD. The e-bike had a bell and let me know he was passing. The scooter, not so much.
There was a guy who got real salty with another cyclist and I on the bridge over West Broad on the W&OD. He and another person were walking side by side on the bridge and another cyclist and I chimed our bells to let him know we wanted to pass. There were a few other cyclists before us and I heard other bells go off as I was approaching the bridge. The guy did move over but was yelling all sorts of nonsense and his walking buddy yelled something about pedestrians having the right of way, which is correct as long as you aren’t blocking the trail which they were. Neither of us engaged the guy. For the record, we were both going at slightly above a walking pace when we passed him.

ParticipantI’m new here (the forum but not the area) but not new to mountain biking. KWL hit the nail on the head with MORE as a mountain resource. There is fantastic riding not far from the city and everything from rooty, rocky trails to smooth and flowy trails within about an hour of the city. Now, if it would stop raining long enough for the trails to dry so we could all go hit the trails…

Ha! They mention the Bruce Gordon Rock N Roads, which are the tires I took off to replace with the Riddlers (for Croatan). I do love my RnR’s!
I’m eyeing a set of those, along with others (mainly the Rene Herse Pumpkin Ridge) for C&O trips but they are a tiny bit narrower than I’d like. I did an overnight last year on WTB Horizons and it was orders of magnitude better than the 700x35s I rode for ~700 trail miles before that.
